35 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists in 34 minutes of action.
Those are some impressive stats for an all-star game. Even if the MS team didn't have a squad full of D1 signees I would think their team would still be a considerable step up in talent compared to what he faced in high school (not counting AAU) and for him to dominate the way he did is a very good sign.

It looks like he made a concerted effort to expand his all around game his Sr season.

He needs to work on his FT% (63%) but everywhere else his numbers are dazzling.

I mean his Avg game this years was...

32 Points 5 Assists 11 Rebounds 4 Steals and 3 Blocks!!!

That.... that is just INSANE!!!

And thats why I call him the Young Beast lol
This is all while being a team player as well. I kept up with the "Nick in the Cut" doc about him and you can tell a good bit of the time the offense didn't go through him. He wanted to make sure his teammates were involved:

He's a Colin/Kira-level talent, which is what worries me a bit. I'd hate to only have him for one year...
That's the unfortunate reality of college basketball. I wish there were similar rules for basketball that baseball has. Of course, more high school graduates would likely just go on to the NBA in that case.

I'm a little bit excited but a little bit worried for different reasons.

Part of his game is very much like Colin who was ready to start as a FR and then jump right to the NBA.

But a large part of JD's game is also like Gerald Wallace where High flying Dunks dominate his 2P scoring. Wallace had the body to do that in HS and to an extent in College.

JD is smaller and I can't see him being able to rely on that consistently in the SEC.... I'd love to be wrong and I might be but it worries me a bit.

Wallace wasn't ready to leave after 1 season and the proof was him riding the bench for 3 seasons in Sacramento before being traded to the Charlotte Hornets. He did eventually become a solid All-Star Caliber player though to his credit.

My hope is that JD's overall game will translate at all levels like Colin while also being patient about the NBA and not jumping too soon like Wallace.

If we could get 2 Seasons of All-SEC level play or better from him I would be ecstatic.

GW did make all-star one year. I had him on my fantasy team three years, back when I played FBB. He was money.
