If NIL is indeed separate from the school (supposed to be), then the lawsuit will be a massive stretch...

Dont get me wrong, I am all for the players making some money. However, they went about all of this with absolute zero thought
The NCAA was handcuffed. What could they do? The courts had already cleared the way. The NCAA basically said universities could not have involvement in the NIL process and it could not be used as an inducement to attend. So the process was turned into an “honor among thieves” situation where we quickly learned there is no “honor”.

See the UT injunction. Anything the NCAA attempts to use to control NIL is met with swift legal actions. There is even talk now of the NCAA dropping all penalties against FSU for the involvement of coaches in setting up NIL discussions for a prospective player.

This will be only get worse before anything constructive happens.

Where ever there's BBQ, Bourbon & Football
"Everybody" wanted fairness for the poor athletes who were already getting a bunch of expensive "free stuff". I'm sure as this NIL and transfer portal thingy continues in its current format there will be many, many more lawsuits from players against universities and their coaches pile up.

This is what "fair" looks like...

sadly this is sometimes what happens when you throw money at high schoolers who technically wont be playing in the NFL for another 3 or so years and have adults in their lives who are essentially vultures and leeches looking to get rich quick. it was eye opening for me reading that article and the numbers that Jaden Rashada was being promised to play college football.....smh

High School players being offered NFL money to play college football. What could go wrong? I hope he wins this lawsuit and make these boosters pay for their stupidity.
Yep. I had a buddy say “eventually the market will set the standard. These boosters didn’t make a bunch of money by being stupid”.

Egos often override common sense. Right now the egos are winning.

When Jaden Rashada ultimately severed his ties to Florida and reopened his high school recruitment, all NIL contracts he had previously signed were nonexistent. Playing for Arizona State did not come with any lucrative financial packages. The complaint states he did not pursue or was promised any NIL commitments.”

And BTW, I find it hard to believe a guy that was part of supposed multimillion dollar NIL bidding war by Miami and UF decided to go Arizona State for a just “a scholarship and and opportunity to play”. Just like I’m pretty sure he is getting a pretty lucrative deal to transfer to Georgia (as many of these players are these days).

Kirby better make sure the boosters are keeping the kid flush with cash or he might divulge where the Dawgs keep the team stillhouse.
Article mentions Kirby signed off on the lawsuit.

Geeze, what a clown.

Can anything really come of this lawsuit, or is this just a bluff to settle ? Florida could not want the curtain pulled back, but what can/would the NCAA do?
