Jersey Changes?

just for the sake of prolonging this thread, michigan, and usc have both made changes to their unis in the last few years. michigan actually put a maize stripe around the back of their away jersey. most people haven't noticed usc's changes b/c they coincided with their resurgence, but they used to have a triple gold stripe on the sleeves. now the have the single gold stripe around the shoulder. they also changed the color of the face mask from red to gray. btw, they look a lot better after the change. and ohio state is changing their uniforms this year. they will no longer have grey stripes on their sleeves. just white and black. google all of these teams to find examples. as far as bama is concerned, yeah putting a script a on the helmet and wearing white helmets would be cool, but to me, it is something that shouldn't be messed with. the only changes that i could imagine would be to keep the highest technology in the jerseys. our jersey cut is still the same as the first nike jerseys that were introduced. notice that UF, UGA, Michigan, and numerous other nike teams have a different nike jersey that is much lighter, in turn not wearing on the players over the course of a game. I have an authentic game worn bama jersey, and it is heavy. the only other thing would be to have the numbers sewn on instead of screen printed. this would solve the problem of the numbers seeming a little off in color under the lights, as well as enhancing the look of the uniform overall.

just an aside: everyone that says "leave it the way it is and never change it", were you saying that before the script a was added on the v-neck and the sec logo on the left front? let's just face the facts that all uniforms evolve over the years, just that some do it faster than others. also, if anyone ever wants to picture what our unis would look like with crimson pants and face masks, look at those IU pictures. it wont ever be done, but that's what it would look like.

Bama has the classiest...and most classic uniforms in all of college football.

Any team that puts its name on front of its jerseys has no identity and zero tradition.

In the early days, almost every college football helmet was adorned with the player's number on the side. Everyone else went to school logos...Bama didn't. No script As or elephant heads on Bama helmets...it would cheapen Bama's uniqueness and tradition.

No wide stripes, contrasting yokes or other nike-inspired craziness either.

The only improvement that could be considered for Bama's uniforms is to work harder to ensure white numerals match white pants and that crimson jerseys match crimson helmets. RTR.

These seem pretty logical.

Besides, what's wrong with the names on the back? PLEASE...don't use the "we are a team, not individuals" line. That could be the most insane reason of all.

when was the last time we actually used the white helmet... late '60s?
In Perkins' first two seasons we wore white helmets on the road unless the home team wore white, such as Penn State. On two occaisions that I can remember when we were at home was against Mississippi State, who wore maroon at the time and against Southern Miss, when the team voted to wear the white headgear.

Having seen them up close on the field in daylight, the numbers actually are an off-white color.

My God!

1. Would you slather Big Bob Gibson's BBQ with Texas Pete hot sauce?

2. Would you make Jenna Jameson a redhead?

3. Would you turn the sand in Orange Beach....orange?

You just don't mess with perfection.

I am definitely not trying to run it out... the only minor change i think would look good is the script A on the helmet...which i dont think would run out any tradition. I was simply asking everone their opinion of change:BigA:

I've posted this before, but this is the only change I wouldn't mind

1. Bob Gibson's is awful. :p

2. Jenna looks good no matter what hair color she has at the time.:)

3. Orange Beach is a nothing compared to the beaches of Sarasota.:cool2:

Bring on the white helmets and pinstripe jerseys!!!!!!

The only change I would like to see has to do with the shoe or socks. I was watching the replay of the '93 Bama vs LSU game this weekend and liked the look of the black shoes and white socks. A couple of years ago a lot of teams went to this black over the sock ankle support which makes everyone look like they have on black high tops. The black shoe with white laces and white socks is the cleanest look.

No, this is what happens when someone posts asking for a uni change. The Bama Nation does not take kindly to posts asking for a change of the best uniforms in all of college football, bar none. Ask a silly question and you will get replys just as silly!

Since the post-Ivan rebuilding of Orange Beach, there sure are a lot of shells in the sand. It isn't the sugary white sand it once was :(
