It was something to behold. My first time to ever see Bama play in person, they whipped up on "Mississippi Southern" , as Coach Bryant used to call them. Musso took a pitch on either the first or second play of the third quarter and went the distance - close to 80 yards - if my memory serves me correctly.

He was simply unbelievable to watch. And he's right about Terry Davis being the perdect wishbone QB. Just wish we could've beaten Nebraska in '71.

Never remember seeing the Stallion ever get knocked backwards when he had the ball...he was always going forward. Used to give 110% on every play like Coach Bryant demanded. He was an amazing back...could do everything

Johnny Musso was one of a kind. For those of you who didn't live back then you should go watch some video of him. Johnny ran over you, around you, and even over you. Johnny Musso had more heart in his little finger than most players have in their whole body. As a young boy I wrote to Johnny Musso to show him my artwork. He wrote me back and thanked me for sending it...I know I was one of thousands who did that and he took the time to write back...now if that doesn't say a lot about him I don't know what does. He destroyed Auburn in '71 by racking up over 200 yards!!! I still have the number 22 jersey I wore back then.

No matter who comes along and wears the crimson and white there will never be anyone like Johnny Musso.
