Just out of curiosity, what have our other QBs been doing since the offseason? Just sitting around drinking beer, vaping, and playing video games. I'm sure they are doing everything possible to be QB1 when the season starts as well. All we hear about the QB position is Milroe this and Milroe that. It would be good to hear about how the other QBs are doing every once in a while.
Well, Milroe gets his picture taken more than the other QBs. He gets himself out there to be seen.
All the QBs are working or they wouldn't be on scholarship. There was a recent article where CKD commented about all of them.

But why are we seeing/hearing so much about JM? The only reason is because of "media" guys looking for "clicks/likes."

I know we can't reverse the clocks, but 20 years ago we know very, very little about these guys outside of the actual season and for about a month during spring break/A-Day game. Like in so many other areas, social media is giving us way too much information that we should supposedly care about even though most of us don't have the emotional capacity or time to really have an opinion about.

But these "media" guys (I'm using quotation marks because anybody who has some computer/social media skills can suddenly become media) are constantly putting JM out there because it generates activity to their sites.

Nick Saban was proud of what the team accomplished considering it looked really bad to start the year.

We had problems for sure, but there is simply no context in which a 12-2 season, SEC title, a playoff berth, and stopping UGA from a 3 peat is a disappointment.

Disappointing end? Absolutely. Disappointing season? No way.
There was no doubt Nick was very proud of last year's team. But I would say it wasn't until he realized what he had or maybe didn't have in the team that created that appreciation. So when they ended up going 12-2 and making the playoffs he realized that was a great accomplishment for the team he ultimately realized he had.

Last year's team was supposed to be one of his most talented teams. But I think the years of lack luster assistant coaching ended up undermining what last year's team should have done relative to their expectations when they were recruited to campus. Let's be honest, the QB position, OL and other areas were very underdeveloped seeing they'd been in the system numerous years.

I think how this team reacted to the Michigan loss....and Saban's comments about the post season interviews and what the players were more concerned with......is what really flips what some fans see about this team. This was the team that was the last straw for Saban.

Sure, he talked about how they turned things around from where they were in the beginning of the season and they most certainly did turn it around. But everything that happened after the final whistle of that Michigan loss really is what this team will be remembered for.

I think last year's team made him realize this is what college football had become and it wasn't going to be limited to just last year's team. This was the future of CFB and he and Mrs. Terry didn't want any part of it. I highly doubt last year's Alabama team was the only team with "NIL attitudes" on it. All of CFB is dealing with it.

To add: the fact that he realized it was happening in college football, but the biggest insult to him is that it occurred in his program too.

I'd venture if he thought it had become unsustainable for him at Bama that it is far, far worse in other places.

He is/was the ultimate "do it the right way" type coach and he realized his values and his team's values didn't mesh anymore.

Although the product on the field was never enjoyable last year, I think last year was my least favorite CNS team because they caused the GOAT to quit the game he loved.

Kudos for you if you did know. But there is no way I can prove if you did or just googled it and acted like you knew. But I guarantee you that the vast majority of fans don’t know who he is prior to this video or at best mistakenly thought he was his brother.
Tell me you think I'm lying without telling me you think I'm lying.

I think some people are misconstruing my defending a young man against what I consider to be excessive criticism as sunshine pumping for the young man.

Maybe has something to do with the way that so many people have decided that there's only two ways to look at him...good or bad.

I don't see it that way...I think there can be something in between the two.

Maybe I'm crazy.

How can you call it excessive criticism when film study absolutely verifies everything his detractors have been saying? I’m genuinely asking.

I see it as in between.

He's got a rocket and can run like the wind. He's also very photogenic and seems to have a great personality. His peers like him and he seems to lead them.

It's just the critical areas of being a QB that separate good ones from the great ones that I believe he struggles in. I don't have to name them cause you already know them.

I see some good. I see some possibilities for him to be great. But he's got to improve in a lot of ways related to being a QB in order for that to happen.

I think he is referring to the non-football criticisms such as getting raked over the coals for going to a NASCAR race or showing up at the NFL draft or promoting his "LANK" brand. I'll let him answer but I believe that's what he is saying is "excessive". @davefrat

That's what I'm talking about.

It's to the point that no matter what the young man says or does there's a cacaphony of criticism about him.

If he chooses Hubba Bubba over Big League Chew it proves he's a minor leaguer.

Take a quick peak. Is someone's pants on fire?
I honestly don't think of Jordan Palmer as some unknown commodity.

Josh Pate? I could see a lot of people being like "who the heck is that?"

I'd never have heard of the guy if not for this site...and I have no idea what his background is.

And I think that is a fair assessment.

Because everyone knows if you're chewing Hubba Bubba you're a bush leaguer :giggle:

All the criticism of him doing this media thing or that and it all somehow relating back to him being a terrible QB...or to his most ardent detractors...not even a QB at all.

If he farted, some people would criticize the smell as proof he can't read a defense.

As for the film proving all his detractors correct, it would seem there is some debate about that even among people who are experts in the field.

IF it was an open and shut case that he's as awful as some say, why on earth would anyone in a position to decide even consider him as the starting QB?

Is it even possible that he's not as bad as some say...and not as good as other say?

Or is that not even debatable?

This is what I fall under. And to add posters comments that say he is not a QB or even a RB and he should be doing nothing other than learning and practicing to be a good QB and have no other activities or interest. There are weaknesses in Jalen's game and when those are pointed out I have no problem with the criticism. I only want the best QB to be on the field and if it is somebody other than Jalen I am fine with it.

Pate's got a bigger audience than you'd think. We were in Italy for spring break on a tour of Tuscany, and I was wearing a 'Bama cap. A guy who was a Southern Cal fan came up, asked if I was a 'bama fan and started talking football and asking questions about what he was hearing from Pate. Said most people he knows who were big college fans kept up with him.

Jordan Palmer - I'd never heard of him until he started coaching Milroe. Pretty much the only NFL I keep up with is 'bama guys.

Pate comes on WJOX in Bham from time to time. Pretty knowledgeable guy.

Jordan Palmer is the brother of Carson Palmer who was a good NFL QB for the Bengals. Jordan never played in NFL I don't believe but has been an independent QB instructor for many years working with HS, college and maybe pro QB's.
