Journalists and AP Poll

I have spent some time the past couple of days thinking about the AP poll. I truely believe that it is fast becoming irrelevant for one main reason. The entire purpose of a journalist is to sell papers (or advertisements on a website), not create a poll. I believe this is encouraging AP voters to make rash, out of the norm decisions for the poll in order to bring attention to themself. The more controversial the voting, the more publicity the journalist gets. So often, these journalists write articles about their inexplicable voting and in turn get a ton of publicity. (Think Jon Solomon with Boise State)

Even more so, it may become a problem across the board with journalists voting for anything. (The journalist that voted for McClain in the Heisman vote). It is fast becoming evident that many journalists are after one thing when they turn in their ballots.

Just wondering what others think...

I think the only poll that matters is the last one before the bowl season starts. If the AP isn't calculated into the BCS formula, then it is even less relevant.

I don't even think about it. I have too much other stuff to worry about in a day than whether or not some brain dead 'journalist' thinks bsu is number 1.

All that matters is the BCS.
