A tangent universe
Jones was at Priceville taking part in the 2007 indoor track meet at Priceville Alabama. He won the high jump with a jump of 6-8 and came in second in the long jump. He looks every bit impressive as people say: Tall, Fast, and very athletic. We really need this kid.

Meet results list him with a jump of 6'-6" which is still pretty good this early in his jumping career. If you were there though I would like to know more about the 8th grader that placed 2nd at 6'-4" from Bob Jones

Sorry I don't recall this 8th grader.

The most impressive athlete there though was probably Chris Billbrew from Smith's Station. He is not a football player but with times of 1:53 in the half mile and 48 in the quarter mile we could see him in the olympics one day.

I think Jones will be high on the priority list next year considering how good he is and also with the number of WRs we're losing after this year. He is a phenomenal athlete!

I'm no expert but my personal #1 offensive recruit for 2008 is Jones. He is a phenom. He has the talent to be something special in college. I hope we get him.

Two minutes later, Baker ran the second fastest qualifying time of the day in the 55-meter hurdles at 8.20 seconds. Today, Baker will try to defeat Vestavia's Corey Dunn who ran the best qualifying time of 7.77 seconds.

"I just tried to do a couple of stretches real fast before the race," Baker said. "It feels really good to win today. I was trying to feed off Julio (Jones), so all of my adrenalin came from him."

Tom Lemming, editor of the Prep Football Report, says 2008 "has the best crop of wide receivers I've seen." Leading the way are Julio Jones of Foley (Ala.)...

Jones is the top college prospect in Alabama and one of the nation’s very best wide receivers……

Notre Dame wants him.
Perhaps Julio Jones will be the next great player from Alabama to play for the Irish.

LSU wants him too ;)

I hope we get him. Maybe in a couple of years, we can hear: "McElroy goes deep!...he's got Jones in the endzone, touchdown, Alabama! Jones beats the double coverage and makes an incredible grab! McElroy puts the ball in the perfect position and Jones comes down with the touchdown. No doubt about it, we'll be seeing that on Sportscenter tonight."

It's never too early to start dreaming.

I can remember the first high school football game last year was the Murphy Panthers against the Foley Lions. Julio Jones single handly picked apart the Murphy defense. His numbers all year were huge.

I just remember walking away from the game that night saying to myself, "wow, I've just seen something/someone special here tonight".

justin rogers the stud runningback from vestavia hills in bham also had a very, very good showing in the track state finals. i am very confident that bama will get both of them even though a lot can change in a year.

Julio is definitely a special kid, I watched the Foley/Daphne game last year and there was no doubt who the best athlete on the field was. This guy looked like a men among boys against a pretty good 6A school. He's big, fast, quick and has great vision in the open field, he will make an impact wherever he goes.

I was at that Foley Daphne game too..great game wasn't it? (except the final 90 seconds). I really hope we get Julio Jones as well...I talked to a couple kids that are still in school at Foley and they said that Jones is a big Bama fan. One guy that I also hope we get and you might know Coastal is #4 for Daphne Reggie Hunt...he also looked phenomenal in that Foley-Daphne game. If we can tie up those two guys...I think that'll be enough for a top ten recruiting class next year!!!

I just hope LSU doesnt go after Justin, because i go to school with him and he LOVES lsu. One of his good friends said it was his dream to go there. And Auburn wants him as well....Tubby came to watch him work out this past week.....and one of the Aubbie asst coaches came and watched him a few weeks before.

Sorry from changing the subject to Rogers, just though a few of yall would want to know

As a Bob Jones graduate, I must say that BJHS is to High School football as Duke is to NCAA football. It's also an Auburn school. I hated that school. I wish I could've stayed at Butler.

I dunno how bad BJHS is....but Shades Valley is pretty dang bad....theyve won like 3 games in 4 years...thats good right? ha
