3 and 4-star recruits who get developed will produce better results than 4 and 5-star recruits who do not.
Sure, but 4 & 5 star recruits who get developed will produce better results than 3 & 4 stars who get developed. I’m actually not worried about his coaching ability, just worried but hopeful about the recruiting. I think Alabama recruits itself pretty well, just got to keep it up.

Personally, of the choices between DeBoer, Lanning, Sark and Norvell, I think we made the best decision. Lanning might be the better long term pick, but I think DeBoer will be much better in the short term and will develop his recruiting prowess.

I tip my cap to Byrne for handling this as well as he possibly could. The greatest coach in college history retired 48 hours ago, and we went out and got one the 5-8 best coaches in college right now. On top of that, he took the proactive measure to say don't believe the garbage you are hearing. Perfectly executed in my opinion.
I honestly didn't think we had a shot with DeBoer, having just taken his team to the championship game.

He's only 12 years older than Lanning, the same number of losses he has as a head coach. I think he was the second youngest of the bunch behind Lanning.

Where ever there's BBQ, Bourbon & Football
Sark's history (as well as some of his behavior at sexat) made me wary of him - I've seen nor heard anything about DeBoer that gives me pause.

GREAT hire, imo.

Those worried about recruiting need to chill. He'll be fine.
I'm "afraid" (for the rest of college football) the King of college football just had a new round of "Super Soldier Serum" injected into it. In other words, a new decade (or longer) of skull draggings is about to start over.

ROLL DAMN TIDE!!!!

Small potatoes in the grand scheme.
Now if fans will leave him alone. He's not going to be Saban. No one will. We've had an incredible run that has had no precedence.
The vibe I get from this guy is that crap from fans won't phase him very much. I think this guy is a coach's coach and may have a higher ceiling than anyone else we considered. I'll admit Kirby and Sark were 1A and 1B for me, but I knew there was about a 1% chance for either of those. DeBoer was my next choice, so I'm thrilled.

I don't think his coaching prowess is being questioned. He better learn to recruit in the southeast real quick....
this has come up numerous times regarding his recruiting abilities. first off, KD and his staff was able to develop lesser talent to compete in a Power 5 conference. as documented, he is 3-0 vs Lanning, 2-0 vs Sark, 1.0 vs Lincoln and 12-2 overall vs Top 25 teams in his brief stint at Washington. those stats are nothing to sneeze at esp. since Bama loss to one of those teams this past season!
fans are forgetting when discussing recruiting in the South as if that's all Bama does. it's true, the bulk of our classes are in the Southeast of the country. BUT the last 15 years, Bama has become a national brand and Saban was all over the map searching and getting players from the four corners of the country and even outside America to come to Tuscaloosa. some of the best to ever wear the Crimson Tua, Najee, Bryce, Sayin and Ingram to name a few were outside the South!
which brings me to my last point. if he can develop lesser talent, imagine what he can do with elite talent??? I am not worried one bit about recruiting let alone in the portal era.

This whole retirement with Saban and, the search smells like a jimmy sexton plan, I think de boer was likely the one all along, Jimmy's clients had to get their pay bump. And Nick gets a huge contract from ESPN, it's about the Benjamins and j sexton
