He's just upset he will have to play more than 2 legit opponents to win a championship now.

Exactly.

I've always felt the 2020 team talent composite is a pretty good indicator of why Dabo was so adamant that OSU shouldn't have been in the playoff (and why TAMU should've been #4). He knew there was a pretty sizable talent disparity from top-to-bottom between OSU & Clemson, and he definitely knew that last season was his worst Clemson team since 2014 when they missed the playoff.

If it was really about the fact that we only played 6 games, he could've just done what Saban did and put OSU at #5 without commenting any further, but he instead chose to make a huge ordeal and make himself look like a fool in the process.

Can't imagine what's going through Dabo's mind now that he knows he'll have to play more teams who are either more talented or almost as talented as Clemson on a yearly basis to win it all.

He is right, there isn’t 12 teams good enough to win the the playoffs. But it’s not about teams that are good enough, it’s about access! Jeez, Karen. Even little ole me can see that!

I mean, the 12 team playoff is dumb. He’s just dumber.
The 12-team playoff in the abstract IS dumb. But where they ARE right about it is that they figure there's going to be more money in playoff games that mean something than bowl games that don't.

But let's take it apart just a bit.

1) He's not in favor of a 12-team playoff, and neither am I. His conclusion isn't really wrong.

2) He's saying the same thing folks on this board said about once you start a playoff, more teams becomes the cry. Again, he's not wrong here, either.

In fact, pretty much everything he said would have been fine right up until this point:

And to be honest with you, I don't know if there's 12 teams good enough

Hell, I don't even disagree with THIS comment. Go find me a single time anyone on the planet thought the team that ended the season ranked #12 was the best team in the country.

BUT...... in this particular case, we have a guy who lost his most recent game to a team HE ranked 11th!!!

I mean, of all the people to say this....

Recent number 12 teams:
2015 - Michigan (10-3)
2016 - Stanford (10-3)
2017 - USC (9-2)
2018 - Kentucky (10-3)
2019 - Notre Dame (11-2)
2020 - Indiana (6-2)

The only team in that bunch anyone mentioned as MAYBE a playoff team in the top four was 2017 USC.

But he seems to have forgotten his own team lost to Pitt (2016) and Syracuse (2017).

Were these rankings before or after the bowl games? I am not calling you out just curious.

No, good point, and it's my fault for not saying.

This is actually post-bowl, but...

Last CFP Poll
2015 - Ole Miss (9-3)
2016 - Oklahoma St (9-3)
2017 - UCF (12-0)
2018 - Penn St (9-3)
2019 - Auburn (9-3)
2020 - Coastal Carolina (11-0)

Now there were some complete tools who were deprived of electric train sets and BB guns for Christmas who actually SAID "UCF" and "Coastal Carolina," but no normal, sane, intelligent human being ever thought this.

He’s not wrong. There is no reason the number 7-12 teams should even be sniffing the play offs. We’re gonna have 3 maybe even 4 loss teams in the playoffs. 15 games is too many games as it is. Yeah some players get paid now but with current scholarship restrictions 17 games is just dumb. Players will sit out and regular season games will stop mattering. Not just the dud outta conference games but also like the Arkansas or Tennessee games. 12 team playoffs is just a greedy dumb idea. It’s gonna ruin the thing we love

Well Karen can’t beat the 11th ranked team… so why is he confident that Clemson can beat the 12th ranked team?

Doesn't bother me a bit. I don't mind Clemson having easy schedule and then going to CFB and getting exposed two years in a row.

2015-Clemson 14–1 8–0

2016 Clemson 14–1 7–1

2017Clemson 12–2 7–1

2018 Clemson 15–0 8-0

2019 Clemson 14–1 8–0

2020 Clemson 10–2 8–1

When Clemson plays against teams that aren’t Alabama, They don’t play well. I think they’re like 1-2 when play teams that aren’t Alabama. I may be wrong.

Alabama seasons since 2015:

14-1 (Ole Miss)

14-1 (NC Loss )

13-1 (Auburn)

14-1 (NC Loss)

11-2 (LSU and Auburn)

13-0

We face far better schedule than Clemson does and we are more prepared for Playoff than Clemson is.

There is a reason why Clemson is wanting to get better schedule, so they can get little of more preparation for CFB should they play there.

Clemson and Georgia game will tell us a lot about both teams. Too many unknown teams playing against Clemson. SC, Florida State, WF. Clemson Can easily go undefeated or have 2 losses at most.

Georgia, they have easy schedule, but can easily slip up against wrong team. I think they make to SEC Championship with 1 loss. I’m willing to bet that Battle of SEC Championship will once determine the playoff spot for potentially Alabama and Georgia/Florida.

after a quick look it appears the last time another ACC team besides Clemson recruited in the top 10 nationally was 2018
