LET HIM HAVE HIS FUN!!!
My brother is just a fun guy who loves UA Football. He is not classless at all, I think he just says what is on his mind.

Your brother, eh? Well, tell your brother to punish anyone who gets in his way this year! And tell him that all you want for Christmas (actually, Thanksgiving I guess) is for BAMA to beat the barn and for him to get 11 sacks by himself! Your bro is one my favorites!

How about taking a page out of Coach Bryant's play book and just telling the reporter that Iron's is a great player and we will be lucky to stay on the field with them this year.

Our eleven guys couldn't stop him last year and if we don't stop him this year, "one for the thumb" will become a reality instead of a wish.

Iron's IS a great player; I can't speak to his character, intellect or any other aspect of his abilities. On the field we have seen a lot of the back of his jersey since he's been at Auburn.

No point in putting your head in the sand and acting like you have no knowledge of Iron's, his skid marks are all over the Bama D from 05, and that defense was a GREAT defense.

Where ever there's BBQ, Bourbon & Football
I can't believe how people look for things to dis the Bama players about!!!!!!
He was just having fun with the media........LET THEM HAVE SOME FUN, FOR GOODNESS SAKE!!!!!!!!! That was NOT trash talking!!!!!!!
I know we all want to WIN, WIN, WIN but the game is also supposed to be fun.

I can't guarantee a victory but I feel certain we will not see anything like that first quarter, against the barn, again this year. The players feel like they can beat allbarn..............I am certainly glad of that!!!!

Who is the authority to determine what is trash talking and what isn't? I've heard/read comments of much lesser degree that we Bama fans went nuts over and put them in the ole "classless", "thug" chest that we tend to open a lot......the only difference was it came from someone other than a Bama affiliate. We can't have it both ways.

Let Kenny Irons say "Ken Who?" (referring to Darby) and let's just see how many here chalk it up as "He's just having fun with the media" or "LET THEM HAVE SOME FUN...." :biggrin2:

First off, I read this board every day even though I don't post a lot. I just can't understand some of our fans getting so upset about this. If you just step back take a deep breath and objectively read the article the reporters intention is clearly to disrespect KD. I for one am proud of players on our team that won't let that sort of thing go unnoticed. If the same question was asked to a barn player do you even think he would have noticed the disrespect for his teamate. Give the guy a break. He by no means was trash talking. IMHO

"Sure I'd like to beat Notre Dame, don't get me wrong. But nothing matters more than beating that cow college on the other side of the state." - Coach Paul "Bear" Bryant

I just cannot believe that a coach would make such classless and completely over the top, trash talking remarks.

Some of you really need to get a grip on reality. Wallace Gillberry gives his heart, blood, sweat and tears for Alabama and was standing up for a teammate.

You don't have to like what he said and that's fine...but unless you have a time machine and are planning on going back and asking him not to say it, I really don't get the point in bashing him.

"Candy, I love candy." - Kenny Irons

I don't feel like he was trash talking. I think that he, like most of us, is tired of all this talk about Kenny Irons. I don't argue the fact that he is a good running back, but he walked into a good situation and had a good year. I do not think that he is as good as KD. One of the most important stats to me for a starting rb(not a few play backup) is yards per carry. KD was just a few carries from leading the SEC. Something else I've seen in KD that beats Irons can't be measured on paper. Basketball players call it "CLUTCH".

I would remind Wallace that Irons is the runningback who shredded us pretty good last year. This football team is doing an awful lot of talking for one that has lost 4 straight to Auburn. It turns my stomach to hear Alabama players talking like this. And Shula needs to do something about it.
so irons shredded us good? were you watching the same game? sure he had 103 yards and 1 TD, it only took him 28 carries to do it. 3.7 ypc isn't lighting it up imo. darby ran 18 times for 89 yards.

and some of you need to brush up on some sec football. kenny irons was a transfer from south carolina, his first year playing for auburn was last year. yep even granny holtz didn't care much for him.

This quote will zero impact on the game itself. Irons is a good back who runs hard - regardless of whether he's been dissed or not.

He's not as good as Darby, though.

I think Wallace Gilberry was taking up for KD more than dissing Ken irons. I think Mr Gilberry is looking forward to giving Irons a great big hug.

No offense but if you would have asked the players apart of the previous four Barn losses (before the game) "who wanted it more" I can almost guarantee you the response would have been "we want it more".

I understand where you're coming from and I'm not trying to refute your point. I'm just saying that after four consecutive losses the pregrame "we're gonna do this.." and "we want it" mores get old. Win the game then talk your smack.
To quote Al Davis, "Just WIN baby!!" The rest of this is just minor details.

yeah funny thing there is that Sweet Lou Holtz essentially picked Demetris Summers over Irons, causing Irons to transfer to another school. Summers has disappeared off the face of the earth since then and Irons went on to have a decent career at the barn.
