Kiffin Or Smart As Possible Head Coach

The Kiffin talk on this and other threads is good for a chuckle. We're what, 4 games into the season?

Bama fans are a different breed. Just look at where that horse is standing. That should tell you all you need to know. :biggrin2: Bless our hearts...
We got Coach Saban now and for how long we'll see,I just wanted too see how many minds have changed as Kiffin as possible at a later date, another thing too add the talk is all the players like Kiffin,Coach has his ways, the other personality's between Smart and Kiffin I have know Idea. Guys don't get bent out of shape this is for fun,for you too express thoughts and feelings Thanks. Also one thing I noticed here everybody sees the game is changing.

CLK as HC at Bama could/should only happen if CLK leaves Bama after a couple of very successful years (two NCs wouldn't hurt) and then becomes the HC at a Auburn, Arkansas, Clemson, Mich. St type program (you know, kinda second level to the big boys) and then has great success as the CEO/HC.

If he has learned his lessons it'll show fast. Then, and only after some serious conversations about what he has learned, should he ever be considered by the Bama HCing job.

JMO.

Funny thing is.. in few years.. we have candiates, new unkown names, unknown name becoming proven commdoity ... etc... we don't know what will happen... This is too early to be discussiing this.. we're not even in October! Distraction, Clutter... We dont need this. LOL

Neither? When Saban steps down, Alabama will still be on top and you will need an experienced head coach to keep you there, IMO. Kiffin doesn't count - his experience proved that he is not a quality head coach.

I really shouldn't comment, but I will.

We have a head coach and the best in the business. I don't want to even think about replacing him, yet!

However, when it's time, we should not screw up and hire someone who has no clue how to deal effectively with everything a head coach has to do to have a winning program: recruiting, coaching, hiring staff, and an excellent administrator of everything football.

Just because a person coached for Coach Bryant or Coach Saban does not meet requirements to just hire an old assistant: case in point Mike Debose and Ray Perkins. Just because your daddy was a winner in the NFL does not make a former QB a head coach in Big Time football. It doesn't have to be a former player. In fact, there's only one former player who was an outstanding coach and many called him "Bear". Wallace Wade, Frank Thomas, Gene Stallings, and Coach Saban were not alumni and they were great hires.

When the time comes, we just need to get it right and hire the BEST Coach out there!

For the record, I floated the Kiffin as HC possibility well before the start of the season, back when Kiffin and Blake were both not terribly popular here. I'm not sure what to do now though, I often argue in favor of unpopular opinions.

You search for the next "best of his generation" head coach. Unless football is banned in five years because it's been surgically reduced to Pom Pom Football.

Why does it seem every year we have people who want to find Saban's replacement? I understand the time will come, but can't we just enjoy the now?

Besides, I have a gut feeling Florida will make a strong push for Kiffin next year.

Depending on what type gig Kirby wants, he may have waited too late to strike. His iron was at its hottest after the 2012 LSU beat down in the Superdome. Since then our defensive prowess has taken a hit with the more HUNH team's we've faced. I think he can still get a HC gig but I'm not sure his options would be as open as they were after the championship season of 2011.

Yeah, I think this thread is getting the cart waaay before the horse. But I found myself wondering late in the game on Saturday when it was obvious to everyone it was over, I wondered if Kirby was sitting there looking across the field at Muschamp wishing to trade places with him? I kind of doubt it. They both have virtually the same coaching pedigree and experience. I dont think it is a real stretch to think Kirby might have found himself in a similar circumstance to Muschamp. What happens to Muschamp if he washes out at Florida? Does he get another HC job somewhere or does he have to pull a Kiffin and role back to DC somewhere? If it were me it would be awful hard to give up the security of Alabama if I am comfortable with the demands of an assistant coaching job there.

Florida would go after a proven head coach before they would go after Kiffin. Like I said gundy and briles come to mind. I'm all about the production and evolution of blake sims that is a result of having the Lane Train on board, but lets come back down to earth the most despised coaches in the country are Kiffin, Saban, Stoops, and Spurrier.

But I agree with everything else. Enjoy the times.RTR

If Florida axes Muschamp, I think their first call goes to Dan Mullen. Whatever he gets out of the Prescott this year probably represents the high water mark of achievement for him or anybody at MSU, so his stock will never be higher. Both of Florida's "golden eras" have been with innovative offensive coaches who had previous success at lesser places.

I don't think Kiffin or Smart will be the next head coach at Bama. I do think they will be head coaches at a place like Georgia Tech or UCF. I do think MC will be a head coach before either.
