Houston, Ms.
Against tn this week,Kines must turn them loose. With an unstable quarterback like Ainge,LSU pretty much layed out what must be done to get into his head.I didn't see as much aggression against Ole Miss as prior games.Granted,LSU lost in the end as a result of poor conditioning and trying to sit on a lead too early, but they beat Ainge.Sanders plans on Ainge playing this week as Clausen is banged up and hasn't been productive since the LSU game.I just hope the Ole Miss game was like a kid having to eat his vegetables before dessert, endure it and get it over with.

We have to come at them with everything we have got. We have to take risks. We have a good secondary and if we put pressure on their QB i see us getting picks.
Max aggression all game is the ticket.

I agree. Whenever we rush only 3 teams just light us up. I realize we open ourselves to the big play the more people we rush, but I like it when we rush at least four at all times and throw in different blitzes on occasion.

I don't know how much this factored in in reality, but Tillman, stated that we weren't bringing as much pressure against Ole Miss because of the score. Meaning it is easier and not as risky to bring defensive pressure when you have the lead. It certainly has seemed that way to an extent, when we got the early lead on UF, the defense brought tons of pressure, if we are trailing or tied, the defense seems to play more zone coverage.

I think the plan was to have Spurlock beat us throwing the ball instead of with his legs. Spurlock has been very inaccurate this year and with the exception of a couple of blown assignments, the defense did ok.

Since both of UT's QBs are not nearly athletic as Spurlock, I expect that Kines will be sending the pressure.

I suspect we're going to see a revitalized Tennessee offense.

We didnt let Spurlock. We were a hand away on many occasions, he is just ellusive. Tenns QB will wilt in the Tuscaloosa sun if we get our O back in gear. Kines will let them totally loose if we can get a decent lead.

There's no doubt the gameplan will have to be the best of the season on both sides of the ball. I can't help but get a gut feeling that UT will throw some things at us that we haven't seen this year. They will pull out all the stops to beat us. However, I think the coaches will have us ready.

If we don't have more in the box I will be very disappointed (and we will probably lose). UT is terrible throwing the ball. Stop the run and you win. This is a no brainer.

his coaching resume says he will rush 3 or 4 DL and try to cover the field with everyone else, hoping to confuse the qb into a mistake...I personally think that pressure creates more mistakes...

Rushing three isn't the problem--not disguising the coverages is the problem. Rushing three can work well--if the OL doesn't know which three are rushing.

Against UF, the linebackers and dbs shifted all over the place up to the snap, disrupting Leak's reads. We didn't do that against Ole Miss, and that allowed Spurlock to get a better handle on the coverage before the snap.

Prepare to see max pressure this weekend. Last week we played conservative on defense...played to not get beat. And, we didn't want to show UT too much of our blitz package. This week we will have our ears back and charging like maniacs. You will see a much more aggressive defense against UT.

jeez . . .

At on moment CJK is the defensive savior of Bama, but after one poor game (a win by the way) are we already back to bashing kines?

Defense and More Defense

You probably couldn't get hold of that game plan if you were Pres Bush...
not so sure he didn't almost blow Ole Miss in order to keep UT from seeing what was coming. And God I hope he has a weapon or two up his sleeve. Let loose the dogs of war and bring it on. This is it...this is the big one and with all of the nation watching we have to look like we deserve our ranking.
I don't think either of the Ut QB's can stand up to our D and the crowd for very long. Its going to be a long day for Fatty and an even longer season.
Maybe we should take up a collection to send him Pizza as he watches the SEC championship game at home----RTR

Agreed but Bama also had a lead right off the bat 7 zip. Then 14 zip. That frees Kines to let the dogs go. By contrast in the Miss game we didnt. We played most everything in fromt of us on D. If we can get a decent lead on Tenn early then we can put pressure big time on Clausen. Otherwise it will be a game like the one we played against Ole Miss.
