hence the absurdity of statements like ”extremists on both sides”
Or, maybe, different people have different perspectives, and that's okay.

That doesn't equal hate, or oppression, or any of the other pejoratives that are so commonly tossed at folks who think there should be some social boundaries regarding what we teach to or normalize with children.

i’m not saying it does. what i am saying is that a drag queen reading a story to a child is not even in the same universe as using the power of government to control the lives of lgbtq+ folks.

but “extremists on both sides” rests on the premise that those two things are the same

I can’t be optimistic about this, knowing the depravity of the human race; no matter how hard we try, over 2000 years of effort haven’t put much of a dent in evil. As much as I’d like to, I just can’t believe we ever will. We have to keep trying just to maintain some semblance of a stalemate.
