Assuming that Alabama will have the WRs, the offense will almost certainly be MUCH better next year. Even if the D is not as dominant, it will likely be much smarter and perform well at crunch time. At least that has been his history.
He has been my preference for a few days, so I've listened to multiple interviews conducted before his connection to the Alabama job to eliminate any "catering to his audience" - though it turns out I don't think he would do that anyway. He sounded very much like CNS regarding process but with a softer tone and overt love for his kids. This is good for multiple reasons with one major one being that when there is a hard or unpleasant decision on a personal level for a specific player, there is almost no way that the player can complain because it would violate the "team" spirit, also IMO, the player would have confidence that he had gotten a fair shot. IMO, he will choose the right QB who can operate his offense, whereas CNS had to gauge the attitude of the team and go from there. CDB does what is best for the team - ALWAYS.
An aside: In those prior interviews, he was interested in every detail of the program exactly like CNS. He seems to have the mind for it and understands the value of what he calls "alignment", in CNS's vernacular "the whole organization on the same page, from the BOT to the Pres down to the janitor, etc.". Despite his quiet manner, he is really driven, just like CNS.
It's thrilling to read some of the descriptions that others have linked that describe his offense, and how he implements it. Also, though Grubb and Shephard would be great additions, this is his offense, he is still VERY much hands-on, and though he is receptive to anyone and anything, encouraging input, he is dependent on no one. Finally, his assistants love working with him. Hopefully, less turnover.
