I remember a great story about the one with the bowling ball.

Bubba Smith drills holes in a ball with his fingers., dust flying up as he does it.

They created the illusion by putting talcum powder into the finger holes of a regular ball, then covering them up with electrician’s tape, making the ball look solid. Fingers go in, powder flies up.

When it came time to film, Dick Butkus handed Smith the ball, complete with tape in the appropriate places. Thing is, there were no holes....he just put tape on a solid ball.

On his cue, Smith dang near broke his fingers when he tried to go through the tape.

Profane insults and eye-watering laughter ensue. Wish I’d been there to see that.
