And now the Glazers are exploring the sale of Man U. These are votes against the British economic future and ought to be a canary in the coal mine for PM Sunak.

Asset values in Britain are almost certain to tank in the near term and for a sustained period from a combination of economic downturn (which government policies are exacerbating despite what the chattering classes think), demographic challenges (not enough young people to drive consumption and taxes/transfer payments), energy and food supply challenges, and capital drain (conversion of boomer investment assets to liquid form as they retire, plus capital flight across the Atlantic seeking a healthier economy and lower taxes). The government response to these things ought to be lower taxes and less regulation, plus steps to increase energy supply (fracking). Instead Mr. Sunak is continuing Boris’ Labor-lite strategy, almost certainly leading his party to the receiving end of a wipeout in the next general election.
