Me and a couple of friends are going to the TEXAS game. We will be getting ro Tuscaloosa around 7 pm that Friday. We are staying at the Hampton Inn Tuscaloosa East. What would be a good place to eat for dinner Friday night, breakfast Saturday, and a good place to chill out waiting for the game? Any good bars to go to? We are not looking for the college scene when it comes to bars. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Im looking forward to yalls gameday experience.

The Grey Lady and the rooftop bars at The Alamite Hotel (downtown view) and Indigo Hotel (riverfront view) are more laidback non-college atmosphere vibes.

Just be aware that any place you go for a sit-down dinner or breakfast in Tuscaloosa will have extensive waits unless you go at grandparent eating times. The other threads have a lot of good suggestions on places to eat.

My son works front desk at that hotel. You'll probably see him. The management company is owned by great friends of mine who are fantastic people.

Dinner: Dillard's Chophouse, River (you'll need reservations at both places), Avenue Pub is casual, but good, DePalma's, Urban Bar & Kitchen
Breakfast: Brick and Spoon, Another Broken Egg, Rama Jama's
Bars: Copper Top (you'll probably find me there...), Catch22 (hate that place but lots of folks don't), Filling Station, Session

Enjoy your time here, but not too much...

Not 100% whiskey but used to be Catch 22. They had a bit of everything including pappy, but I read in here ownership or mgmt changed? So not sure if that is still the case.

As for the OP's question stick downtown for brunch on Sat, last time we did brunch in town, we went to FIVE downtown. Good brunch a bit of a wait, but they also had a bloody mary bar if that was your thing.

Not really any dedicated whiskey bars. @2003TIDE is correct that Catch used to have a lot of different bottles. They still have plenty. I think they're currently out of Pappy, which doesn't matter to me because I've got a bottle in my home bar. The selection at Dillard's Chophouse is small, but selective and quite good. Session is more of a craft cocktail place.

Welcome Horns9899. The best part of Gameday in T-Town is tailgating on the Quad. It is a late kick so I recommend that you get there and mingle with the crowd. We have some pretty knowledgeable fans regarding football so be prepared to mix it up with a good group of people. We have "those" fans just like all teams do but they should be in the minority as most of us are very respectful and courteous to rival fans. More than a handful will probably offer up some vittles and spirits so come to have fun. Safe travels.
