Looking like the following for assistants...

It looks like we are getting him. The extension was done recently and shouldn't affect Alabama ability to sign him.

Man, I hope that`s accurate. I`ll go ahead and start an argument ( well, maybe ):). For me, I`ve always felt the O and D line coaches were second only to the HC in importance. Nothing happens on either side of the ball if you don`t have good line play. All the schemes in the world don`t matter, IMHO, if you can`t control the LOS, at least for the balance of the time.

And I definitely agree with you....... battles are won and lost in the trenches

That would be a very solid hire, but still confused about Kool.

Im also generally confused by the kool rumors, the dline had some issues related to depth, not his fault, but buggs improved, QW blew up and we saw good stuff out of Ray. The D line was basically our only source of pass rush this season, almost exclusively from QW. I'm guessing its just a personality thing, or possibly a recruiting thing who knows. Either way both baker and davis are upgrades here overall.

I mean this is a job at the end of the day and there are more reasons than just the job that causes folks to leave one. It is well known at this juncture that he's on the way out but he's still here helping Saban finish the 2019 recruiting class. I doubt he's got a bad relationship with Saban because he's doing this the way somebody who has a lot of respect for his boss would do it.

I think this is a much stronger staff than last year's group. I won't say Saban panicked last year but he made a larger program shaping decision rather than one simply about on-field coaching. I don't think Saban elevates two recruiters to coordinator then hire a bunch of noted recruiters unless he was sensing the importance of not slowly losing ground to TAMU and UGA by only bringing in top 10 classes. I think the acumen of our top staff members got exposed when the quality of opponent went up and Saban is splitting the difference this time around. Significantly more experience and quality experience on the offensive side. I imagine Saban mostly leaves Sark to it and Saban ends up taking on a more hands on role with the defense to tutor Golding into a true DC.

No argument from me if CNS wanted to take on more of a " DC ish " role for this year!
