Last year was my first year in the MDB. Before then, when LSU was in the championship I cheered and hoped for them to win, thinking that as long as the NC was in the SEC then everything was good.
I'll never, EVER, make that mistake again. EVER.
So, the band had a long long trip to LSU last year. We stopped in Mobile the day before, exhibitioned twice, along with other little things. We left early Saturday morning for the LSU game, stopped off to play for the Alumni at a pep rally, and then on to the stadium.
There, I encountered something I didn't expect.
When we weren't getting flipped off, we were getting mooned. When we weren't getting mooned, things were hitting the bus. Cussing, food tossing, mooning, drinking, and flipping us off. It gets worse...
Little kids saw us and waved at us. Oh no, the parents would have NONE of that. They took the kids' hands and told them no, then shaped their hand into their loved one-finger salute. These kids were anywhere from 2-10 years old! Give me a break people! What is your problem? What excuse could you POSSIBLY use to be so classless? To be so completely rude and totally ignorant to any sort of moral decency(sp?) is something I have seen AT ITS BEST in Baton Rouge. I hope you all don't come to our campus with the same attitude.
