LSU vs. Florida Game

Without Tebow, this game is going to be a close one. I just don't see LSU as special this year, but partly because I'm always viewing Les Miles as overratted. So, I think Florida will find a way to win this one.
Florida is a much better team.

Don't know what to say about this one. A healthy Tebow and Florida has a decided advantage, but he isnt. Even if Tebow plays I wouldnt want to run him 24 times like he did against Tennessee. LSU will be looking for a big hit on him if he plays. LSU has some headhunters(excuse the pun); sometimes going too much for the big hit. I see Brantly playing and it being a game decided in the 4th quarter.
I have had credible people tell me Florida's backup isnt that bad. Even if he was equal to Tebow in skills who would you start, Tebow of course. Florida could use this as a rally point and win the game or LSU could take last season's game to win one for Less. I think Florida can win this game with or without Tebow.
I agree...and we've already proven we can beat UGA. Would kinda be like '03. Beat them in a close game during the reg season, then stomped them in the SECCG. I'd go for that again! ...oh wait...you were talking about YOU guys playing UGA in the SECCG. My bad.
Just kidding...but here's my take on this game.
With a fully healthy Tebow, and an improving...but not there yet LSU team, UF by 10+. But either way at this point, I think LSU has a legit chance.
If...and that's a big if...Tebow plays, he will not be the regular old Tebow. If Brantley (who is a VERY good passer...but immobile) plays, it'll be his first start ever...and even though LSU doesn't impress anybody...they ain't Fla Int either. LSU has a better secondary than they have receivers. This game is in Tiger Stadium at night...and they ain't Bear's Bama. LSU hasn't lost a home night game in a long while.
Not predicting a Tiger win...but LSU definitely has a chance in this one. I hope for a good game by the Tigers, and can't wait to hear rival fans discount a Tiger win due to...
a)Tebow didn't play
or
b)They changed the playbook to keep Tebow safe
or
c)Les is lucky

Florida wins with or without Tebow IMHO, unless LSU magically finds an offense sometime this week. Their defense will only be able to keep them in it for so long before eventually wearing down. If Tebow plays it could get ugly for LSU, if not it'll probably be much closer. It should be an interesting and entertaining game, I'm looking forward to it.

Brantley has enough experience and a strong arm. They can win without Tebow in this one. Will look like a different Gators offense, but the defense is the same. LSU, not so good on offense.
And if Brantley were to be injured . . . do they take the redshirt off their freshman, play their punter who has been taking snaps at #3 QB, . . . or just put Demps back there and go with the wildcat?
Without Tebow, everything changes for Florida. They are not going to get weak or slow, but it will definitely change the offensive gameplan and contingencies.
I agree - he is a lot more than their QB. With Tebow, they don't think that they can lose. Without Tebow, there has to be some doubt. How they handle that doubt could make all the difference...
That is a good point, if tebow doesn't start and UF gets down, UF may not be as strong emotionally if they see Tebow standing in the sidelines in civvies, even though practically, Brantley is probably a better pure passer than tebow.

Remember when Florida under Spurrier was number one about ten years ago or more, and DiNardo was the LSU coach, and LSU beat 'em at night in Tiger Stadium?
Brantley was part of that bizarre quarterback situation that involved Jevon Snead -- didn't Snead decommit from Florida back to Mack Brown and Texas and then when Colt McCoy became the favorite at Texas, Snead switched to Ole Miss? I think maybe Brantley's father played at Florida, and that may be why he settled in there behind Tebow. Brantley I believe was a 5-star QB out of HS -- lately you don't get offered at Florida to play QB unless you ARE a 5-star -- so Brantley isn't chopped liver himself.
I agree that Tebow shouldn't play this game, and that the doctors probably won't let him. My wife has suggested he may be having headaches, dizziness, blurred vision -- who knows?
I have never thought that the very idea of a running quarterback -- particularly one who is the focus of an offense -- is a good idea. If you take into account that there are maybe five seconds in a football play, that the quarterback's job is hard enough just to have to THINK and LEAD an offense, and you put him in a vulnerable position over half that five seconds, multiplied many times in a game -- you are setting up a situation like the one that happened to Tebow against Kentucky.
Tebow was involved in looking downfield, because that is his job as QB. WHAM! He was NOT looking for that OTHER responsibility he has been given, to account for tacklers. I just don't see this. Running QB's usually get cartilage damage and have to sit out several games sooner or later. At least, as big as he is, he hasn't suffered cartilage or ligament damage.
The classic dropback quarterback is the proven formula for success. The emphasis is upon his protection and not upon his performing running services over and above his primary responsibility of leading an offense.
When Bear Bryant employed the Wishbone, the QB's responsibility was not to be THE FOCUS of the offense, as Tebow has been at Florida. Jeff Rutledge, for example, was a minor runner in the overall stable of backs in the Wishbone.
Was it inevitable that Tebow would get hurt? Well, it was a high probability. How many opponents have CONSIDERED laying him out, do you think? It finally happened. In a way, I certainly wish it had not happened, because this is a fine, fine young man.

I think Florida wins a close one, regardless of qb. LSU could very easily be coming into this game on a two-game losing streak, including a loss to Mississippi State. I just don't see how they score enough to win.
That said, I wouldn't bet on this game with Earle's money. Should be fun to watch. My feeling is we probably have to beat both of them ourselves anyway.

This game could go either way. That said, I wouldnt mind us getting to play a healthy undefeated Florida team in Atlanta come December.
Well, that's the rub. They have 12 men back from a spectacular defense last year. I think LSU has to score 28 points to win this game and I'm not sure the Florida defense is going to allow it. Florida's turnover ratio is very bad and LSU's is very good. It's the one area where LSU is clearly better. If Florida turns it over 4 or more times, LSU could take it.
