LSU will romp

:BigA:LSU is clearly better on both sides of the ball !!! :conf2: No way can Ohio st. match the speed of LSU !!!:conf2: Sabans recruits should clearly dominate, but either side could win because Miles will manage to keep it close!

A National Championship is a great recruiting tool. A lot of great talent comes from Louisiana, we want that talent. I think you can follow the logic.

LA will be loaded for the 2009 class. Probably the best class in the nation.

Let the circus begin.

That is all. Have a good day.

I don't see why some SEC fans think that we should root for each other. In my Pac-10 family, they only root for other Pac-10 schools when it's bowl season, except if it's UCLA or Cal, they'll never root for them. I'm in the boat where I just don't root for anyone in the SEC except for Alabama or anyone in the Pac-10 except for USC (Alabama always comes before USC though in my book). Why would an LSU fan care if I don't root for them in the NC game? They're the ones having a chance to win it, not us and it certainly won't help us (not saying that it'll necessarily hurt us, but it can't possibly help us), no matter if they win the game or not.

Just in my two seasons worth of SEC games, I doubt that ANY non-Alabama SEC fan truly likes Alabama or anything related to Alabama. Which is fine with me.

I know I'm in the minority here but after the way SEC teams acted when we were getting hit with "still to this day, un-substantiated violations" there is no way I will ever pull for any other SEC team but Bama. As far as I am concerened we are the SEC, all by ourself.

:iagree: Great post!!!

Um... during probation?

If only the Alabama hatred in this conference were only limited to the probationary period.

Fact is, just about every other school in the conference either outright hates us or does nothing but talk bad about us and constantly put us down. Tennessee, Auburn, and LSU outright hate us, and it's not like the rest of the SEC really has anything for us. Ever notice all of the anti-Alabama t-shirts? Or how about when just about basically every team in the SEC erupts into cheer when they announce over the PA that Alabama has lost? What about the bad-mouthing of our coaches, past and present? And how supposedly all we've ever won is because of cheating? And good God we hear the "high expectations," "living in the past," and the "Bear is dead" mantra every day of the week.

Obviously the rest of the SEC has nothing for us, and if anything seemingly gets joy from our problems. Why in the heck would I root for those guys?

This whole "pull for the SEC" mantra is a joke. They have nothing for us, so why should I care if we don't beat the Big Ten? Who cares? Why root for LSU in the title game? Do you honestly think for one second that about 90 per cent of the LSU fan base isn't hoping that Colorado annihilates us and Saban?

They have nothing for us. I have nothing for them. Aside from Tennessee and Auburn, I will generally root for any SEC team from one time to another, but I'm certainly not obligated to do so.

Bottom line: I'm an Alabama fan. Not an SEC fan. Big distinction.

Exactamundo! Any fense sitters can call me a whiner all you want if you have to keep pretending to be a true fan. Your either 1000% Bama and against the world or your not. There is no inbetween.

And even to sound a bit selfish, think of it this way: the more out of conference wins an SEC team racks up, the better Alabama looks seeing how we're also member of the SEC. This is by far the toughest conference, and we should all be proud to play in a conference alongside some of the nation's most elite programs.

I think that whole argument is a crock.

Being in a tougher conference does not make you better by comparison. If anything, it only makes your road that much tougher. And moreover, you do not need to be in a strong conference. Being in a strong conference does not strengthen you.

Ohio State and Michigan are two of the biggest programs of all time, yet they play in a conference where they are the only two good programs.

Florida State contended for national championships every year for a decade straight all the while in a terrible conference.

Miami did the exact same thing for years and years with the Big East.

Oklahoma and Nebraska did the exact same thing for decades in the Big Eight. You know there was a reason Bosworth referred to it as the "Big Two, Little Six," don't you?

You need to be a great team and a great program, regardless of where you are playing and who you are playing, provided that is in a BCS level conference. You don't get brownie points solely because a lot of other teams in your conference are good.

Nowhere in my post did I imply that I was pulling for LSU. (admittedly I am because I still believe in the idea that we in the SEC play the best brand of football and I want the whole world to never forget that) However, my post was something to the effect that OSU is overmatched and that it would probably require LSU to lose the game for OSU to claim the title. I was hoping for some insight into the game itself and not just a bunch of rhettoric(sp?) about who you are pulling for. I am sure there is a thread dedicated to that elsewhere. OSU is simply overmatched IMO and would welcome any evidence to the contrary. For those of you wondering where I got the idea that ESPN was hyping OSU look at Corso's (I know they are a joke) comments as a starting point. He says that OSU will manhandle LSU in this game. Laughable at best.

I believe what LS was referring to were the fans of rival SEC teams and yes they were and still are quite rude to us. Downright lies were posted on rival boards, LSU included.

if i took offense, everytime a member on any sec board throws "hatred" towards lsu - i would be wrapped up in anger, life is to short. it won't affect how i feel about my school. i think thick skin is needed. i guess i get great advise from my wife all the time, her response is who cares what others think. a person is entitled to a opinion - i really wish we could be like one big happy family. this is just sports isn't it?

Tell you what, sport...

If, by some chance, a few SEC teams play sleuth and try to get LSU the death penalty, and LSU ends up getting near the death penalty, get back with us, and give us your opinion, then.

Until then, try walking a mile in Bama's shoes...

It's happened to a lot of us, you know. When LSU went on basketball probation after the Lester Earl defection, SEC teams dissed LSU unmercifully, especially Dale Brown. It's a highly competitive league, amigo, it hasn't been Alabama and the 9 Dwarfs for decades. SEC rivals kicking you when you are down is part of the game and Bama hasn't been the only one kicked around.

As far as I am concerened we are the SEC, all by ourself.
And you wonder why SEC fans sometimes think Bamafans are arrogant and egocentric.

I am with you 1000%. Why would any Bama fan in their right mind pull for a team that is in your conference division and more importantly, recruits head to head against you? More BCS crystal hardware put in the trophy case on Nickolson Drive does nothing but hurt Bama in the recruiting war.
Bama isn't really hurt by other SEC teams winning trophies, I think. It doesn't take any away from Bama's impressive pile.

Fact is, just about every other school in the conference either outright hates us or does nothing but talk bad about us and constantly put us down. Tennessee, Auburn, and LSU outright hate us, and it's not like the rest of the SEC really has anything for us.
You fellows have been very strident that LSU was not and never would be in Tennessee's and Auburn's category as far as being hated by Bama. I don't think LSU hates Bama at all, not like AU and UT do. It's just the emotions of seeing a former LSU coach on the other sideline. In time, he will be a Bama coach in our minds and things will return to normal.

This whole "pull for the SEC" mantra is a joke. They have nothing for us, so why should I care if we don't beat the Big Ten? Who cares? Why root for LSU in the title game? I don't think so. There are a lot of us that pull for the SEC against out-of-conference opponents. We would like to see the SEC undefeated in bowl play. I certainly want to see Bama win. SEC wins raise prestige for all of us and it lines our pockets with more money since bowl profits are shared. Most of us watch a lot of SEC football over the course of the season and I simply enjoy watching teams that I'm familiar with beat teams from around the country.

I don't hate anybody's team and I never understood people who do. We have the best football conference in the country and we have every right to be proud of it.

I'll take a stab at this one and give you my take. For the most part fans in the SEC have been great fans. LSU fans jaw at Bama folks and Bama folks jaw right back, and everyone eats and has a good time because it is all in good fun. Seems like recently it has been less of good natured fun and in more seriousness but that is neither here nor there. In my entire lifetime, every Aub I have met has not understood good fun. They take things seriously beyond anything I have ever seen and are in your face about it constantly. I don't know maybe it is little brother syndrome left over from decades gone by. For instance not many UT fans lorded 7 straight over Bama, it was just part of the rivalry. When people like that are in your face constantly making fools of themselves, their school, and their state (which also happens to be your state too) then you could understand why a hate can evolve. LSU being the only big school in LA I think LSU fans sometimes can't relate. Again many may not agree with my assessment, but that is how it is for me.

i will pul for LSU to win, because they are in the sec, and i hate the big ten, the media darlings. i do think the game will be close. LSU has not blown anyone out like va tech since then, and they have shown some vulnerability. of course they had a few injuries, at the skill positions. ohio state, this year, is more run oriented, and that will hurt their chances.

Pulling for other SEC schools helps your own team. Fla drubbing OSU helped the whole SEC as far as respect, which corralates into higher rankings.

Anyone not think respect for the SEC helped LSU this year?

Like it or not, a strong conference gets a team from there a little boost, when everything else is equal

If the SEC wins all it's bowl games, it makes all of us look better. IMO

If LSU returns to 100% like they were for the V Tech game, LSU wins easily. If injuries are still a problem then it will be close, but LSU will win. If penalties are numerous, LSU will lose.

LSU has struggled against high powered or unconventional offenses this season. Fortunatley for LSU, Ohio St. runs a power running type offense which plays to LSU's defensive strength. The only way LSU loses is if they beat themselves with costly penalties.
