Mac is probably done at New England (Pats-Colts aftermath)

Dobbs is this way and it is working out for him. Maybe it will for Mac too. He is smart like Dobbs so there may be a market for him.
But Dobbs can run. In today’s NFL the QB needs to be mobile. Mac had NOOOO chance last year or this year. It’s just in his head now but when you snap the ball and have 3-4 NFL linemen ready to kill you in 2 seconds? You will get trigger happy. How can people expect the QB to be calm and poised in the pocket when it’s available when it almost never is. You get conditioned.

I always have thought that Brady covered up a LOT of CBB’s averageness and he went and proved it in Tampa!!!

Not to forget that Brady won 6 SB on a team that converted a college QB to WR and during one SB run was using a DB converted to WR.

Outside Moss, Gronk and to a lesser extent, Edelman, who were the top-level skill players surrounding Brady during his tenure in NE?
Take a look at Belichick with and without Tom Brady stats in his career and it makes you think if Belichick is the "genius" and "GOAT H.C" of the NFL or merely an extremely lucky guy.
He hit the PowerBall lottery with Brady plain and simple. Hell, Brady was essentially the GM in demanding the pieces he got to help the team. He is the reason why one day a bust in Canton will have a hoodie.

Brady elevated everyone around him.

His OL though was ALWAYS stacked. Remember when his TB OL was decimated by injury, retirements, and trades? He went from SB genius to well…not.

I don't follow the NFL like I do the college game but from what I recall, the first couple of Super Bowls the Pats won with Brady were teams that relied on a great defense with a pretty conservative offense. I know that was the case with that first Super Bowl team, but from what I recall; Brady was the right guy for that style of team early on in his tenure but it wasn't until a little later on that Brady and the offense became more of the engine for some of those other Super Bowl teams.

To be fair, Brady was not a sure thing coming into the league. If it was not for a stupid late hit by Mo Lewis(?), Brady may never gotten that chance in NE. Belichick and Brady needed each other.

If Brady was drafted by the Steelers or Ravens instead of the Pats then it’s highly likely Belichick is more like a Rex Ryan at best in the HC department and we are having serious conversations of Cowher or Billick/ Harbaugh in the GOAT department instead.

Everyone wants to say that but there was more than a sliver of evidence that people believed Brady was becoming a top trade pick in 2001. Also consider that both the Steelers and Ravens in 2000 were far better teams with unsolved quarterback issues than the Pats. Change Tee Martin to Tom Brady and we are likely talking about the Steelers winning 4-5 SBs, and maybe even more than that.

There are a lot of “what ifs” that around Brady that fundamentally change the NFL if they were ever answered

I think this is what a lot of folks are missing. Put Brady back there right now with that hot-garbage OL and with no time to throw and getting hit as much as Mack how would they be doing on offense even with TB???

Obviously, Brady is the GOAT, but he stayed pretty clean in the pocket. Mack isn't TB, but given time he can deliver the ball to open receivers. It's not a MJ problem to the extent it's being made.

When I read that Mac lost the team... I knew he was done. Mac will get a fresh start soemwhere.
I think he'll get another chance somewhere. Might even be a back up roll initially. He could land with the right team for his abilities. It could happen when every year teams sign emergency QBs. So many ways back on the field for him.

Regardless, if Drew Bledsoe had not gotten hurt, I doubt Tom Brady becomes a HOF QB but more of a Rich Gannon journeyman.

idk about that. There were teams that were ready to bail on their quarterback at the time and Brady was becoming a name around the league. Everyone acts like he was just a backup that got put in and became a star out of nowhere but really there was legitimate optimism when he came in because of how he was playing. If he is traded to Pittsburgh (who ditched their quarterback the very next year for an XFL star) or Baltimore who was also ditched theirs then it’s likely that Brady has Atleast 5 maybe even more.

Without Brady…. Belichick is probably fired in 2002 and another Rex Ryan type average coach. To put it in a movie reference. Belichick is Viggo Tarasov and Brady is John Wick. A guy with Brady’s focus and determination will never be stopped from achieving their goals unless someone kills them. Brady really made #199 a constant reminder of what they thought of him for over 20 years. That’s something 99% of us would drop after getting a ring, but this guy never does.

I'd take him on the Falcons today, and they'd be a playoff team. Decent OL, good defense and a ton more offensive weapons than the Patriots have. The Desmond Ridder experiment was awful.

There are a lot of Ridder fanboys on the radio. I just don't understand it at all. He stinks (I correctly predicted this when he was drafted).

I would also take Mac in a second. Could easily win the terrible division they are in.

Mac is taking the brunt of the blame that should squarely be placed on a HOF coach. Letting Patricia call the plays last year was a disaster, the supporting cast is a disaster, the OL is porous...but its the QB's fault. When given time Mac completes a very high percentage...but he's under constant pressure. An astute GM will pick him up as i think given any sort of competent roster and coaching staff he will be fine in the NFL...and to a comment early in the thread about Mac having some of the worst performances in the NFL... historically, there are plenty worse QBs..the hyperbole was a little much.

And said HOF coach is more than willing and steering the blame to Mac. It speaks volumes about the character Belichick has...

This is not 100%, so don't shoot me if it's wrong, but I just got a text from my brother, the news producer.

CBS "dropped a file" on Belichick, a video file for use for a story.

That ALMOST always means he's out the door.

No, he has heard nothing from his sources yet confirming this, hence, rumor at this point.

There is a lot of very loud rumors that Belichick is moving on.
