Barring anything totally out of left field, Mac Jones has one season to make his mark. Next year this will be Young's team.
I tend to lean this way too. I believe the hype about BY.

I did note that, after the first scrimmage, CNS said MJ needs to play within himself. That's true for all QBs, but I read into his comments that MJ may, at times, try to push himself beyond his capabilities. Everybody, no matter how good they are, has a "ceiling." I imagine the "answer" to this question will play out during this season as we start seeing MJ's talent level compared to BY's, as he gets his opportunities.

Mac, not Mack! That drives me crazy! Mac won't be with the team next year. All he needs is solid year and he will be drafted. I agree with BIG, Young is too talented to sit two years on the bench. Mac can either get drafted or transfer somewhere. I seriously doubt he will be in college football though.

It will depend on how the NFL perceives him. If they think "game manager", he will never be able to shake that moniker.
It depends for sure but his play will dictate that regardless.

If he has a 23 TD, 9 Int year then yeah, I doubt he gets a look but if he balls in Sark's offense has let's say 35 TDs and 7 int then I don't see him coming back to Bama.

On the part about Mac playing within himself, I think Mac does try too hard sometime and it showed in Auburn and LSU game last year.

He went 21/36 in the scrimmage and part of that he was constantly under the pressure from the defense. so based it on what we've heard, He actually did well.. few things he just need to improve.

I'm not trying to argue with everyone on this board, but He just need to do well... execute in critical time and NFL will take notice of that.

I'm not as concerned about individual statistics by our QB as much as I am about the team playing to its full potential. It's about how the team plays as one unit. Teams win championships, not individual players. Chemistry, relationships, trust and a lot of other "stuff" goes into making a championship team. Certainly, players matter, but this team will have to learn to play as one.

Look at Tua, as great as he was as an individual talent, couldn't win a title as the starting QB. Not his fault on an individual level, but just goes to show that simply having a rock star talent at QB doesn't automatically reserve you a spot at the podium with Rece Davis and the confetti dropping.

I feel like coach has said similar things about Mac in the past as well. He must be an emotional guy / player.

If Mac was constantly under pressure from our #2 defense, then our #1 OL is not getting the job done.
I hope someone can confirm if the #1 O went against the #2 D, but I thought I read this, especially as a reason Paul Tyson struggled so much (#2 O going against #1 D).

Yes, from the BamaHammer article I read, it said it was 1's vs 2's and that Mac played against 2nd string D. I think this is usually how Saban does it.

Thank you.. Not sure why he would usually do it that way. It makes no sense under normal circumstances.
