Mass/Active shooters part 4

Photo taken from video just before the shooting started in Memphis - might as well have been taken in Haiti:

There is at least one child in that picture.

Who takes a semi-automatic weapon to a block party?

I’ve known since the 70’s to stay away from the Orange Mound. Still, it’s very close to where Mia and I go every Sunday for rehearsal.

Memphis used to be such a cool city with a rich culture. Such a shame what has happened to it.

another question is why are semi-automatic weapons so readily and easily available

Low IQ morons.

Yeah, the UM campus isn't in the best part of town. Just the other side of Southern is essentially gangland.

Memphis shows how the (lack of) competant leadership can quickly torpedo an otherwise thriving city.
Murders in Memphis in 2010: 93
Murders in Memphis in 2023: 298

The sad part Is I could safely bet my house that not a single one of them was obtained legally.

i was referring more to the assault rifles as shown in the picture above. but overall, there are entirely too many firearms on the streets
I actually made that suggestion quite a while ago - outlaw all semiauto long guns. I know of no way to convert a bolt or pump gun to a full auto with something like a bump stock or trigger mod...

The NRA needs to keep that bump stock banner from the White House before he takes everyone’s guns away.

We are in a messed up world. We are trying to prevent, with no success, people bringing a gun to school. Whereas, at the same time, we are encouraging people to bring guns to church to protect themselves.

Its beyond time for the Silent Middle of America to step forward and demand better..

Sad, its become so commonplace that a 'mere' 3 dead gets hardly a mention here:
3 dead, 10 wounded in shooting at Mad Butcher grocery store in Arkansas

A gunman opened fire at an Arkansas grocery store Friday, killing at least three and wounding several others, authorities said.

The deadly incident unfolded just before 11:40 a.m. CT at the Mad Butcher in Fordyce, a small town about 70 miles south of Little Rock, state police Director Mike Hagar said at a late-afternoon news conference.
Some of the eight surviving civilians were in "extremely critical" condition, Hagar said.

Clarence Thomas and John Roberts Are at a Fork in the Road

“The difference between Roberts and Thomas is clear. Roberts looks to past practice to establish a principle. Thomas looks to past practice as essentially establishing precedent,” David French writes. “Roberts gets it right.”

Columbus, Ohio.....

Ten people were shot in the Short North area early Sunday morning, including one person who is in critical condition. The victims are all males ranging between the ages of 16 and 27.
