Rough game, but we usually have at least one stinker like this in the spring semester. This loss will help us in the long run, as long as we didnt get decimated by injuries.
Yep, student section near and around the floor would do wonders. One day.. maybe.A smaller arena would fix this. I really wish we would.pony up the cash for it.
I think this game was the result of last weekend. With the snow and everything, the end of the week was likely more chaotic for the team than usual - especially getting to TX. Then, they played a meat grinder of a game against TAMU - one of (maybe THE) most physical games of the year. Though they won, they got beat up physically and then they turn around to have to play Tuesday instead of Wednesday. Ole Miss, on the other hand, had a pretty easy game at home against LSU Saturday and avoided any travel complications since they were at home. I wouldn't make too much about last night's loss unless it continues to be a trend. UT lost by over 30 at home to Florida... but I don't many who would pin UT's team identity to that loss.I wonder if this game being sandwiched between (2) road top 10 matchups had an impact? Going into it I didn't think of it as a trap game. I couldn't help but wonder about it while leaving Coleman though.
Having lived in the area for 15+ years, attendance at BB games during the week has been an up and down thing. Obviously, demand for season tickets are at an all-time high right now... but at times it's like season ticket holders either don't try to get rid of their unused tickets or maybe they can't. Others on here have mentioned the atmosphere also - and there's only so much you can do in a place where there's so many "nosebleed seats". I think a smaller, more intimate arena would help both things immensely.I know it was a 6:00 CST start and I know it's an OM team that nobody probably thought we'd lose to, but I couldn't help but notice at the beginning of the game right there in the middle section closest to the court only about half the seats where filled.
That's a problem. Fans took the game for granted and so did the team. Students filled their section looked like it, but as the whole is considered, they were lackluster.
I think we all want a new arena but nobody wants to pay for it.
That early tipoff definitely makes a difference...There was a pretty good crowd. I bet it was 85%-90% full.
Lot of people showed up late.I know it was a 6:00 CST start and I know it's an OM team that nobody probably thought we'd lose to, but I couldn't help but notice at the beginning of the game right there in the middle section closest to the court only about half the seats where filled.
Too late.Lot of people showed up late.
Kentucky plays like us. Not your traditional Kentucky team. It will likely be 115 to 112 or something like that.Watched it on YouTube. Bama was weak on both ends of the floor. Ole Miss played sticky defense and Bama turned it over a ridiculous number of times. Bama plays like this in Lexington, the Wildcats will have it their way,
If Bama turns the ball over again like they did against Ole Miss, they’ll come home with their tail tucked between their legs.Kentucky plays like us. Not your traditional Kentucky team. It will likely be 115 to 112 or something like that.
If Bama doesn't show up locked and loaded and having the OM game out of the system, we'll get run out of Rupp.If Bama turns the ball over again like they did against Ole Miss, they’ll come home with their tail tucked between their legs.
Nate will flip the script soon. He did last year too. He went heavy pick/roll late mid season last year. I think he has been - do it until they stop it. I think they come out strong in Rupp.I think teams have figured out our drive/dish game. The drive to the baseline and pass to the corner for 3 is being contested a lot more. That's certainly one thing OM did.
But I don't think we should over think the OM game. It was a stinker one off, I hope. Had to be the worst shooting percentage of any game I can remember in the last couple. We couldn't make anything...even close to the rim. Shoot, Stevenson missed a wide open dunk on a beautiful play we called after a break/timeout. That was HUGE because we had some momentum at that time. Microcasm of the whole game!
