Not a fluid game. We might just be an avg sitting team. We are getting to the point where you are what you are even with Youngblood still working his way back. Might be the type of team that is hot from 3 some games but avg from it most. D can travel so keep working it.

Been well below average most games. If it cannot be corrected and you continue to throw them up, this season could turn into an enormous waste of talent.

Didn't get to watch the game until this morning. Whew. That was rough! But a W is a W. They need a break and the sloppiness and short shots showed.

I will add this as I've continued to harp on the player rotations.

I think we need to play smaller more when matchups allow. A combo of Philon at #1, Sears at #2 and Youngblood at #3 may produced the best outside shooting advantage for us. Mallette could be mixed in with these 3 as well as a 2 or 3.

I noticed we had those three guards in a couple of times and it immediately produced some wide open 3 looks. Even though our 3 point shooting was off in this game, Sears and Youngblood both got great looks.

With those 3 I'd like to see more of Reid at the #4 and Nelson/Cliff at #5. That's a smaller lineup but I think it might produce more offense for us, which, all of a sudden looks wanting.

I sure hope the X-mas break is a good think and we come back ready to go. The conference grind is gonna be something like we've never seen.

I think the shots will catch up to the exertion as the season progresses. I really do.

part of the issue is that we have the wrong shooters shooting much of the time. Stephenson has zero confidence. He is playing like Sam did last year. Launch a wide open 3, or dribble stop and pass it. No power. Dude, you are 6-11, DUNK it!!

Reid looks more like an undersized 4, than a 3. He and 22 aren’t great shooters.

but, I trust the mad Scientist to figure it out.

Agree Cajun that we are flinging way too many 3s by too many that could make as many from half court as from behind the arc.Just because you can shoot it doesn't mean you should. I know CNO encourages it, but I think we need better shot selection from those bigs.

And, to use a cross over football analogy, we wondered if all the JM runs and tds were hurting our running backs performance this year and I think we found out the answer.

So, as you suggested, I'd really like to see Sears, Youngblood, Mallette and Holloway get a lot more of those shots. Even Reid who has a decent stroke.

As for Stephenson, while he's streaky and can potentially get hot from 3 land, he's mainly been a brick layer this year. I'm not sure what's wrong. Did the NBA scouting evals last year mess his head up?

I don’t see the upside to his game personally. He has no power game. He struggles to shoot. He is bad at the FT line. He hustles on Defense at guarding. But those stats don’t show anywhere really.

Youngblood plays shorter than I thought he would. As does Reid.

but, we are picking nits here. Last year 6-5, this year 10-2. One loss was a “barely”, the other was tight most of the way in a hostile arena.

whatever is wrong is minor. And I think conference play will show more separation than people think.

I think 5 teams will rise. Auburn, UT, Bama, A&M and Florissant. I think State, Arkansas, Kentucky, Ole Miss, and Texas are sure things for the tournament. And I think we could get 3-5 more based on how those teams do at protecting their home court.

These are national ranks against top 50 Torvik teams. This shows you where the weaker teams might be.

SEC has top 5 vs top 50

I want both Christmas sweaters that the TV analysts were wearing. One was Festivus. The other was Santa dunking a wrapped gift.

He's always shown as being a genius at making the whole greater than the component parts. Last season, I kept thinking "If only we had somebody so Grant could play #4." Supposedly, that missing part was acquired. I hope this is not an extremely talented team which just never gels...

I was saying this the other day. I don’t see anything NBA other than height. He was not even a decent shooter last year and this year pretty much the same. Defense is better but not a good ball handler and or driver with little strength. Was thinking he would take a big step this year with how young he is but not yet.
