I think you are trying to find malicious cause in Milroe’s pure incompetence
There is no way Milroe saw open receivers and decided not to throw depending on who they were. He cannot make second reads without the cleanest of pockets. A fascinating stat would be the percentage of pass plays his helmet pivoted at all.

I hope an NFL team makes him a TE with lots of sweep runs or shovel passes or something. He is historically good running in the open field.

It's not that complicated. Agree, he certainly didn't see them open and make a decision. He simply didn't even look their way and instead locked in on others, even if those others were not the primary read.

THAT I can buy. But Whats-His-Name was incapable getting through the progressions like a "real" QB.

But think about it. Choosing to ignore "those three guys" coming out of the huddle should have made the job easier for Whats-His-Name. (Somehow he still managed to be mediocre.)

Not really. Some plays are designed to get certain routes open. If he-who-won't-be-named isn't looking at that route due to a specific WR running it, and it's open and the others are not, he's hosed. From what I saw, this was certainly happening some.

What is frustrating is reading these threads and a bunch of people responding as if all the challenges with Milroe, the lockerroom, and NIL is new information here at the end of the season when a bunch of us have repeatedly explained what has been going on.

And to add in this thread Grubb did not want to come over the last 2 years to coach Milroe. The lockerroom was a soup sandwich from Day 1 and the coaches had to mitigate a complete portal out when they found out that we had no viable NIL program on Day 1.

Saban had his prior staff capped at offering $25,000 in NIL and every player got the same amount from the collective. This amount when every upper tier SEC team was offering 10 times that as a starting point. It was embarrassing for the assistant coaches. This is fact.

This is why players on the team steered toward LANK. Basically Saban said if you can get more on your own then so be it.

CKD knew he could not come in and go 5-7 so he did the only thing he could do which is buy a transition from Milroe.
Thank you for this interesting post. It makes me wonder why DeBoer was willing to come to Tuscaloosa and Grubb was not. Was it only the money? I ask this because I'm forced to believe that if Grubb knew that Milroe is a sub-par QB, DeBoer must have known this as well.

Given the above, I still cannot, and probably never will understand why Milroe wasn't benched at various points during the season. He is an inaccurate, sack prone quarterback. I fail to see what there was to be gained by leaving him in there.

What I'm hoping for is a fresh start, as if the Milroe debacle never happened. I suppose that I'm in the minority here but imo the 2023 and 2024 teams were very good and loaded with many great players. I even think that last season's team was championship caliber with a good quarterback. It's time to say goodbye to this "LANK" nonsense and win football games.

ROLL TIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with Mr Isaiah. It is all about what you do, not the other guy - attention to detail and doing the right thing all the time, on the field or when noone is watching.

I was temporarily impressed by the "shirts tucked in" players only meeting, but this did not last long. This is what the team needs to go back to - the long hard low-prestige detail-oriented doing of the right thing all the time. No celebration, no showing out, respect for your opponent, your teammates, and the game.
I just want to say that seeing players wearing jewelry chains on the sideline like 1980s Miami or Deon Sanders’ Colorado makes me sick.
