One of the best/worst arguments you will hear from a criminal defense attorney at a bond hearing is "Judge, he's been arrested a dozen or more times and he's never missed a court appearance, so we know he's not a flight risk."

The HC is in the repeat offender window , FWIW.
Alabama football got sledgehammered in 2001. The punishment was draconian because a couple of years prior, an assistant basketball coach attempted to get two boosters (one of whom I know personally) to give him money to pass on to a recruit.

The boosters did what they should have done -- reported the incident immediately. Think that got any brownie points with the NCAA? You'd be thinking wrong.

Trouble was, even thought it was basketball vs. football, that assistant basketball coach's actions extended the repeat violator window that dated back to 1/1/1993 when Antonio Langham signed the infamous cocktail napkin.

Never mind that Langham's real violation happened over 8 years prior or that the boosters never gave a penny to illegal recruiting (in fact, they turned it in), or that one violation was in one sport and the other one -- only attempted -- was in another.

Based on that precedent, extension of the repeat violator window doesn't even have to be the same sport, let alone the same coach. And as Rich Johanneigmeier (sp?) said, Michigan should be staring down the barrel of a gun.

Anyone wonder why I hate the NCAA and Roy Kramer and Phil Fulmer with the white-hot passion of a thousand supernovas?

We fired Tressel for lying to the NCAA. Michigan is absolute scum here. Zero integrity. And they are bringing him back to celebrate their championship last year, further thumbing their nose at the NCAA and the entire college football world.

They are saying, "Yes, we cheated. Yes, we got caught. We don't care. Suck an egg if you don't like it."

And the current head coach (Moore) was up to his eyeballs with Connor Stalions crap. These folks will probably put both of them on a horse drawn chariot, dressed in maize and blue togas, and have 100k fans cast flower petals at their feet.

A barner that I know once proclaimed "best $180k we ever spent"...🙄
