I have spent quite a bit of time this a.m. attempting to understand the complexities of the Middle East conflict and possible US involvement in a coming attack on the Iranian oil complex.

One point that was confirmed was the fact the Israelis through Mossad have deeply penetrated the leadership structures of the Iranian military, Hamas and Hezbollah. There are numerous examples such as the pager and portable communications devices as well as the killing of Hezbollah. leadership.

It is highly unlikely China and Russia want a nuclear Iran considering their interest in Saudi Arabia and in the middle-east.

Netanyahu has been completely intractable to a broader solution to Middle-East stability over many years even back to Bill Clinton.

The US ultimately is going to be forced to develop a more balanced approach to the middle east and not be held prisoner by the Iraeli political influence here.

I am hearing more about Israel targeting Iranian oil fields that will create a knee jerk reaction in the price of oil even though their customers are India and North Korea. Hearing right wingers posing as intellectuals say Trump will do a better job on the Middle East and Ukraine. Difficult to understand why Iran felt compelled to launch missiles given the US election is only days away given how exposed they are to an attack on their nuclear facilities. It is as dicey a time as we have seen on a number of fronts.
