This should be interesting next season when we go to Columbia. Mike Shula will be the OC.

Mike did a great job when he was at Carolina with Cam years ago. He has turned out to be a solid football coach and with his pedigree I can't say it is surprising. I wish him well.

I may be wrong, but I don't think there's a single Alabama fan who hates Mike Shula.
Seriously.

What so many of us hate is the benevolent charity work narrative of revisionism that turns his disastrous tenure as a head coach into volunteering at the Goodwill while curing cancer and feeding a mass of 70,000 fans in a Bryant-Denny snowstorm with only five loaves and two fishes.

He's a very good QB coach, he helped Sellers this year, he was always on the sidelines talking to him during the game, hope he does well

So he took a job nobody else wanted......the Shula Legend of self-sacrifice for the good of his employment and bank account continues.....
That's not necessarily true. What I heard from South Carolina Twitter when this was announced was that they didn't even talk to anyone else. South Carolina news now pops up on my Twitter feed since I spent about week arguing with South Carolina fans about H2H wins

I always appreciate the fact that Shula came in and stabilized the ship. We were very much adrift before he got there. His tenure as our coach produced average results and average recruiting. His unwillingness to change or fire coordinators did him in. The payout probably was worth it for him. He's kind of like a working actor. He has stayed in the mix for the last 20 years and worked at several places and keeps getting shots.

Agree with everyone here, he is an excellent QB coach with a great track record in that role. As an OC, I expect to see some success between the 20's and bad red zone performance. There is a reason why he consistently ends up being out as OC and back as QB coach.

As above, I wish him well and hope he's moved past his time at UA. He got us through a dark time, but was not ready nor able to be HC here. Sometimes knowing who you are is the best thing. If he stayed as a QB coach, he could be considered one of the best. His record as an OC distracts from that.
