At some point, we're going to close this thread. Seeing that it is the offseason we'll keep it open a little longer so people can "get it all out". But once this is closed this topic will be "closed" as well. It can be taken to the professional sports board but the days of discussing Jalen Milroe on the college board (in this capacity) are numbered.
I don’t think I’ve ever really been “happy” to see a player leave the Capstone…until now.

I fear that if Ty Simpson were to light the world on fire or fall flat on his face then the Jalen Milroe conversations wouldn’t die so easily.

You have to take into account that it wasn’t just Milroe that many “never Milroe” fans were annoyed with, it was many of his overly obnoxious supporters that drove the conversation to its boiling point. I think Milroe has what I would describe as a “LeBron” type fan club amongst his uncompromising supporters in that they take it to the absolute opposite extreme as his biggest detractors. So I think there are going to be endless comparisons should Ty win the job.

In a weird way… it might be best for the board if Russell would win the job because you won’t have the direct 2 year comparison with the guy who rode the bench behind the most controversial player in Alabama history. Personally i just want a playoff run with whoever wins the job.

Yep, it’s all been said. Good times, bad times, all behind us. Coach says it feels different, so let’s let it be different and press forward.

I personally couldn’t care less what’s best for the board. I just want to team to start performing up to its potential. Players and coaches. Ty deserves a legitimate shot though, unencumbered by what has been, so to speak, because of his resolve to endure the past 2 years and not jump ship.

Agreed 1,000%. To me, the competition would have to be demonstrably better for him not to get the starting job.

I'm just hoping next year's team can be unburdened by what has been:cool:

I going to miss this Milroe thread and the many other ones on him. They rival the legendary $Cam Newton megathread back in 2010.

I say once the draft is over we add the word "Milroe" to the list of banned words along with "Natty". Anyone using said word gets banned also. Not blue font.
Let’s not forget that Milroe still has one more year of eligibility left, and if he does not get drafted, he might sue NCAA to let him back to play for Alabama

Where ever there's BBQ, Bourbon & Football
It wouldn't have made a difference. Would have been like putting lipstick on a pig to make it look purdy.

It's been speculated that Grubb didn't come because...
I can't say one way or the other for certain, but seeing that Saban tried to get him back when Bryce Young was the QB and he said no then, tells me it probably didn't have anything to do with Milroe. The hot internet rumor was his wife or both he and his wife didn't want to come to Tuscaloosa. Either way, they ended up in Tuscaloosa whether they liked it or not. So I hope he gives the community a chance and doesn't already have plans on bolting at the next opening after the season.

Yeah, I get that, but he was coming with CKD...until he wasn't. No doubt Grubb watched film on Milroe to see what he was getting into and probably made a few calls to coaching buddies (they talk to each other a LOT) and probably concluded that "my career path doesn't need this right now".

Who knows?

Remember, Coach BOB wasn't wrong about Milroe and no doubt many others came to that same conclusion.
