Mobile phone access to TideFans - site statistics

Hey folks.

Sometimes I like to provide interesting analytics about the site. These types of statistics help me understand what computer, browser, speed, resolution, etc. capabilities visitors have and thus helps me design the site to accomodate those capabilities.

Today I've provided some stats regarding mobile phone/pda access to the site. Note that Mobile phone/PDA access accounts for 4.78% of total site visits.

Is there a mobile site or a setting for mobiles? Forgive my ignorance, but I'm not really up on that technology. I've accessed the regular site with my i-phone, but haven't used it much due to being hard to navigate on the small screen.

The site auto-detects your phone and identifies the "best" rendering for your phone.

A number of our initial iphone users preferred the 'original' layout (i.e. same one you see here) so that's what you'll see.

There is a good possibility that I will be updating the site sometime in the relatively near future and will probably include an iphone specific layout.

I like the site far better on my new iPhone than when I had my Blackberry.

That being said, it kind of creeps me out that you can tell what type of handheld device I'm using. Big Brother Brett!! :eek2:

Actually, I can't tell which device YOU are using these are just summary statistics. I have NEVER associated any demographic data, etc. with individual users (or even groups of users).

Thanks, Brett. I'm one of the Blackberry 15.85 % folks. However, when the iPhone finally makes its appearance in my local Verizon store (late this year or early next), I WILL be making the jump.

Lol I bet I'm the only one with the iPod! Tidefans is my homepage and I leave the browser open so I might have thrown off your stats a little haha but I love how easy the site is to navigate using my iPod! It would be killer for iPod and iPhone users alike if tidefans had an app! I'd pay a dollar or two for that app! Anybody else?

I surf the site and post from my Blackberry all the time. It's the mobile site without avatars, post counts and such, but it loads super fast.

I love the TideFans mobile site, just don't tell my employer how much.
