Kinda crazy that Livvy Dunne has more followers than the whole list combined but still not making the most. Advertisers are looking for large outreach and pay accordingly. Glass Ceilings in NIL too?
Well I’m sure most of her money comes from Social media, where as other athletes money comes from collectives. Have you seen Ms Dunne’s pictures? just a step above upscale shoe model Establishments.

I was offered $2.6mm/year back in 1989 when I chose to take my (not terrible academic) talents to T-Town. I turned it down and said I would rather pay tuition like all the regular people because I was so full of Bama.
I remember this! It made the local news here because you were a 15 year old software savant and you turned Bill Gates down when he offered you an EVP position at Microsoft and stock options as part of Microsoft’s IPO.

Then went to the University on your own “dime”.

The epitome of humility and graciousness. Just wanted to be the run of the mill “Average Joe”….

THIS is one of the facets of current CFB discussed during our annual Thanksgiving meal-gathering at work today. The subject was the fact that among us we pretty much all think there will never be another dynasty run like Bama has enjoyed over the last 15 years or so due to all the money being thrown around, open transfer possibilities and the inherent decline of school/program loyalty. It's a sad day indeed for old school college football fans such as myself.
If history is an indicator eventually some school with the most money will assemble all star talent on the level where no one can compete with them. At that point the rest of college football will demand some sort of salary capping. The same thing happened somewhat in the NFL but I think the potential in college is far more absurd for this to happen. I'm waiting till after the season to see how much money gets thrown at Williams to transfer. I figure Ohio State or Texas will be offering the most. Perhaps Williams is a Bama guy, I don't know. but if he gets offered millions more to leave it's going to be hard for me to sit here all smug acting like he did something wrong. Pretty soon some players are going to have to take a pay cut to go to the NFL. You might actually see them stay instead of leave early.

Good memory! It was truly the beginning of me putting the emphasis on benevolent in my path to becoming a Benevolent Dictator. The fact that I graduated with less than $10 in my bank account is just a side note, now.

Continuing to call this "college" football is about like when a band keeps on going with all new members for years and years after all the original members who created the music have passed away, but retain the original band name because there's still money to be made using the name.
Ladies and gentleman, please help me welcome...Sport formerly known as College Football

I agree...while it may be exciting to watch him today, it's very possible we'll be rooting against him next year. Highest bidder usually wins. Sadly, I think the days of "Bama" guys are done. In 10-15 years who will be the former players coming back to talk to the team. I heard that Sylvester Croom recently came by to speak to the team. He's the last of a dying breed. It'll end with Ingram, Julio and few others maybe.

Amen. It’s gone. I didn’t even remember that the LSU game was on until midway through the first quarter. Decided just to watch the highlights the next morning and got a good night’s sleep. I will probably be engaged with other things during the Mercer game as well. Just a bunch of hired hands playing for money now.

I suspect he already has deals on the table.

The student loan system was a wind fall for academia. Most of it was spent on overhead and administration. Look at the number of employees at universities verses professors per student and you can see this. The cost of college athletics is out of control. I guess if tax dollars are not involved and people can afford it so be it. People are probably beginning to wonder if they can afford to participate at this point and definitely at what level. At least I am.

Even our beloved university has a spending problem. For FY23, it appears that UA has an indebtedness of over $1 billion, with tuition income of only $7.85 million. The growth bubble will bust at some point and we'll be in significant trouble.
