After having the same cellphone number for 23 years, I had to get a new number. It seems mine got spoofed so many times, that it was marked as spam. I couldn't call anyone even if they had me listed as a contact. It was sending me to voicemail and their phone showed a spam call that the spam filter blocked. Apparently this happens a lot. Beware folks it could happen to you too.

Exactly and it would probably be easy to do.
Well, they can hunt down the device you made your post from fairly easily and if it was your phone they can find out where you are and where you’ve been for some time back. Not to get political but a candidate running for office who promised to make this crap stop would get a lot of supporters.

Yes they would. Even if its outside the US it could be taken care of. Make it where these thieves don't want to even try it.

Could not agree more.

My phone was stolen in Italy 5 years ago. Could this have anything to do with that? I know it has been 5 years and once it was stolen the phone was shutdown, but it does make you wonder.
It very well could have. My brother and his wife went to France a few years back. They had to park a block or two from where they were staying, and all he carried to checkin was his wallet, camera passport and phone and she her purse. When he locked the car he used the remote; thieves captured the signal and when the came back to get their luggage it was gone. No sign of break in. All of it. It was first stop on a two week vacation.

Agree on harsh punishment for hacking phones or any other electronic device. It's theft via wire fraud and should be prosecuted as a federal crime.

Off topic, but I'd add misbehavior on commercial aircraft. This is one of the few areas where the feds have sole control. We already have a no-fly list for potential terrorists....just add these flaming jerks to that list. How hard can it be?

Disobey a flight attendant, or become verbally abusive, and you're banned from flying for 5 years. Strike another passenger and it's 15. Strike a flight attendant, or sexually assault another passenger, and it's for life.

This is in addition to, not in place of, any other civil or criminal charges that your behavior may warrant.

Your work requires you to fly? Well, actions have consequences. You now need another job.

Given the 100% federal control, it hasn't been addressed only because nobody in Congress cares to.

Crap. Never heard of anything like that. I have a key fob with the push button start so I just push the button on the door handle to lock it. Scary someone can do something like that so quickly.

I get alcohol plays a role in these airplane misbehaviors. But you’d think people would know to dial it back on a plane. Act like a jerk to your waitress or grab her somewhere you shouldn’t? They’ll just kick you out and if they say they’re calling the cops you can run because you know the cops aren’t going to spend time looking for you and if you are banned there are plenty of places to eat and drink.

But on a plane? You have nowhere to go and when you land someone will greet you at the door to arrest you. With all it takes to get on a plane and the limited number of airlines you are pretty much screwed if you get banned from an airline.

Individual airlines can ban unruly passengers. The issue for the rest of the flying public is that there's no centralized database that applies across all airlines. So somebody can show their hindquarters on one, get banned, and do the same thing on another airline.

Why there's no centralized database, I can't fathom.

With all the phone crap I got going on, work stuff, relationship stuff, this is not improving my mood. Plus the Braves are sucking it up. I don't even want to know what my BP is.

on the brightside there is whiskey.
Would have been funny if the time stamp was 7:24 AM...
"Get you a beer?"
"It's 9:00 in the morning!!!"
"Scotch?"

Seems like it would be simple. As I said, there are only so many airlines and even fewer “major” ones so it’s not that hard for them to get together on something like this.

My life is just straight up bizarre. The person that had my phone before me has the same first name as me and also recently had a colonoscopy. His was at Emory, mine was at Piedmont. Emory has been calling this number for 2 weeks and the messages left always say my name. Today I answered to find out why.

I agree there should be harsh punishment for these people. But what about some of the flight attendants that abuse their power? I'm sure you have seen some of the videos or read the stories where this has happened.
