Etowah downs Southside in 5A, 13, Tourney

Etowah defeated Southside to advance in the Class 5A, Area 13, Tournament in boys High School basketball Thursday night.
Etowah advances to play Gadsden Saturday.
Etowah was led by Jamel Byers' 23 points. Ben Cheatwood chipped in 14 points.
Southside's Nate Clough had 14 points.

Gaylesville 58, Ragland 56
CEDAR BLUFF - Gaylesville slid past Ragland, 58-56, in the Class 1A, Area 10, Tournament Thursday.
Ragland missed two shots at the buzzer in the loss.
Gaylesville meets top-seeded Cedar Bluff Saturday.

Coosa 65, Hope Presbyterian 27
GADSDEN - All 11 players scored for Coosa (14-6) as it beat Hope Presbyterian, 65-27, Thursday.
Joel Davis had 12 points for Coosa. Micah Henderson added 11.
Coosa plays at Florence today.
Coosa ran past Trinity, 65-33, Tuesday.
Micah Henderson had 12 points. Stephen Rodgers and Joel Davis each had 11 points. Brian Snead had 10 points.

Emma Sansom 58, Litchfield 57
Emma Sansom's Reginald Marbury came up big as he scored 22 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and had six steals to lead the Rebels to the 58-57 win over city rival Litchfield in boys high school basketball Tuesday night.
Perhaps the game's biggest moment was when Emma Sansom's Jabriel Lowe hit a 3-pointer to put the Rebels up by two points with less than 2:30 remaining in the game.
Lowe finished with 10 points.
Litchfield's LaDondrick Hughley had 11 points.
Emma Sansom (23-2) secured the city championship with the win.

Guntersville 83, Scottsboro 74
GUNTESVILLE - Guntersville downed Scottsboro, 83-74, behind Jeremy Havis' 24 points Tuesday.
Tyler Buford had 20 points, Adam Shumate had 15 points and Michael Oliver chipped in 12 points for the Wildcats (22-7).

Shades Valley 55, Gadsden 54
SHADES VALLEY - Shades Valley squeaked past Gadsden, 55-54, Tuesday.
Shades Valley's James Thomas led all scorers with 26 points.
Javon Walker scored 16 points for Gadsden (10-18). Cory Marbury had 12 points, Kelvin Vanderwood 11 points and Marquez Reynolds 10 points.

West End 64, J.B. Pennington 43
BLOUNTSVILLE - West End downed J.B. Pennington, 64-43, behind Ryan McCoy's 17 points Tuesday.
Also for West End Kerry Dodd scored 15 points and Kyle Mayo had 10 points.
West End (12-11) plays Saturday vs. Westbrook in the Class 2A, Area 12, Tournament.

Madison County 71, Crossville 68
GURLEY - Madison County squeaked past Crossville, 71-68, Tuesday.
Derek Finley had 25 points to lead Madison County.
Crossville was led by Jake Peek's 20 points. Stas Brantner had 14 points and Kent Colvin and Justin Campbell each had 10 points.
Crossville (22-5) plays Sand Rock in the Class 2A, Area 13, Tournament Saturday.

Geraldine 80, Ider 60
IDER - Geraldine ran past Ider, 80-60, behind Corey Bryant's 28 points Tuesday.
Bryant had eight 3-pointers. Ryan Burns had 15 points, Dewayne Dalton had 11 points and Benji Rice chipped in 10 points.
Ider's Adam Nix and Gabriel Nix each had 13 points.
Geraldine (25-5) plays Saturday vs. Gaston in the Class 2A, Area 13, Tournament.

Susan Moore 75, Locust Fork 62
LOCUST FORK - Susan Moore downed county rival Locust Fork, 75-62 Tuesday.
Susan Moore was led by Jason Simpson's 22 points. James Ray Whitley had 16 points. A.J. Milwee and Adam Blakely each had 12 points.
Susan Moore (15-8) plays Saturday vs. Cleveland in the Class 2A, Area 12, Tournament.

Glencoe 84, Cherokee County 72
GLENCOE - Glencoe downed Cherokee County, 84-72, Tuesday.
Glencoe (18-9) was led by Carson Quinn's Micah Elkins' 14 points each. Andy Walker had 13 points and 13 rebounds. Jay Croft and Joe Kirby each had 12 points. Derek Daugherty had 10 rebounds.
Cherokee County was led by Webb Lyons' 17 points and Maurice Dupree had 13 points.

Gaston 52, Ohatchee 50
Gaston hit its free throws down the stretch to seal a 52-50 win over Ohatchee Tuesday.
Gaston's Kerry Majors had 19 points, eight rebounds and three blocks to lead the Bulldogs (7-14). Wykail Majors had 14 points and Josh Nash had eight points and 10 rebounds.
 
Hey, did Pinson Valley win the 6A JeffCo Tournament? I think they did, and if they did what an accomplishment. When I graduted from that school in '89 we only had 900 students and were a class 5A school.
Way to go Pinson Valley Indians!!!!!!
