My thoughts on Iron Bowl rivalry.

Twas the night after the iron bowl
And all through the state
There was a mix of emotions
With half feeling down and the other half feeling great.
Shakers were flying across Jordan Hare
In hopes that Coach Nicholas would soon be out of there
With two minutes left, Auburn fans stayed glued to their seats,
While visions of victory flashed with each heartbeat.
With mom in her pearls and dad in his lucky hat,
Auburn just had to manage the clock to add a W to their stats.
When out on the gridiron there arose such a clatter,
when Auburn stepped out of bounds giving seconds to Bama that mattered.
Bama fan’s eyes were awakened with less than a minute to go,
When they converted on 4th and 7 the Crimson nation yelled Roll Tide Roll.
Auburn fans started losing their grin,
when they knew all they needed was a first down to win.
Auburn fans roared, standing on their feet,
and watched in slow motion as Young’s TD pass to Brooks was complete.
The game was now tied, as Alabama added 7 more.
Into overtime they went…not just one OT, but four.
In the end it was a victory for the crimson and white,
But Auburn’s performance was one of great might.
Toomer’s stayed quiet, not rolled like a white morning snow,
And Bama fans cheered, celebrating their 24-22 win at this year’s Iron Bowl.

I'll put in my $.02.
I hate AU (rivalry wise) and everyone who knows me knows it.
My daughter, who is now 18, has been brought up to mirror my disdain for the cow college.
Yes, in the grand scheme of things, Bama and its fans are focused on winning NCs, as it should be.
There is NOTHING, short of winning the NC, that compares to what happened last Saturday. To go to their stadium and have to play against them and the refs and ultimately triumph to utterly ruin their season and hopefully killing some of the past demons of not winning in that cow pasture.
I hate UT but for an entirely different reason.
I may or may not be in the minority but beating the team at bovine u is right next to championships.
