News Article: Nate Oats Updates Status of Derrion Reid

I should have added, I might feel better if Reid is held out another week. I don't know the healing process and risk; I'm sure Coach Oats and staff are taking that into consideration. His game was getting better as the season went on and his return should be a big plus.

I agree. I would also like to see us try to get it done without playing Derrion.

A hamstring issue can be tricky. More time off, the better.

He tried to play again in the middle of February, but it might have been too soon.

I am anxious to have him back, but would like for him to be as close to 100 percent as possible. 🙂

Agree, I would rather have him in the NCAA ttournament than Sec tournament. Hopefully, with almost a week off, our young men have their legs back to full strength.

You need his minutes more this weekend than you do after. Because it’s three days in a row.

We wouldn’t need him in round one or two anyway You would need him in the round of sweet 16 and forward so that would give him time if necessary

To be honest at this point, I wonder if Nate has just moved on

I'm assuming the injury Reid is dealing with is still the hamstring, Those are tricky and he's already re-aggravated it twice.

It's a real balancing act between being fully healed vs. contributing minutes vs. being effective in tournament competition -- practice just isn't the same as any live game, let alone the post-season.

Oats and the doctors know all that and will make the best call they can. There is, however, no perfect solution for this year.

yeah, a hammy can be a very nagging injury. I had one once and thought I would never heal.

Just would wonder about fitting Reid into the current rotations with no playing time in a while. CNO seems to have found some synergy to the rotations with Philon, Youngblood and Sherrell ? Depth will be helpful, though.

I think we need his fouls to give and help on the boards more than we need scoring help from him right now.

Depending on the quality of officiating in the NCAAT, I don't think we will need him until an elite 8 or F4.

Playing him in the SECT tells Oats wants to try to win the tournament and secure a #1 seed in the NCAAT.
