What a maroon.

Between Holden and Hall, neither played a down at their new place before being arrested. In Holden's case, he might not have even participated in an organized practice.

Interesting that Hall hasn't found a landing spot. It's too late for the spring semester, so I guess he's sitting out until at least fall....assuming someone takes a chance.

Wonder if Freeze would roll the dice on either of them, just to claim being preferred by a player that we initially signed.
Hall is likely to drop down a level or go to JUCO college but likely to drop down a level... Nobody wants to touch him. Kids has major issues mentally and emotionally.

Holden- I'm very surprised because he needed a new start. Kid can still land somewhere before spring, but where? Gotta think He ends up somewhere at lower level.

Can’t believe I didn’t think of this immediately….with his age and military background (Marines, no less), he might be able to lead younger players who don’t know enough to know where the gaps in their knowledge are.

The last couple of years, we’ve lacked in that regard.

Maybe he’ll play and maybe he won’t. But he might be one of the few who can be a real positive internal influence even if he isn’t a star on the field.
Who can say? If we have a couple of " big ", two TE packages for short yardage situations he could very well find himself on the field. He`s got the size and I`ll hazard a guess he has the mental makeup ( toughness and hopefully a mean streak ).

I always think about the quote from the cartoon “Pogo” when folks (Holden, Hall, Billingsley, etc) that experienced issues at one place suddenly believe a change of scenery or location will “fix the problem”. Not when you’re the problem and you can’t or will not admit it.

Kind of like the saying about moving towns, jobs, etc to escape a problem. Wherever you go, there you are.

He didn't drop any more than anyone else. He didn't have the speed some of the new guys have, like Bond.
He certainly dropped passes that hit him directly in the hands at key moments.

Regardless of his behavior, I was happy to see him go. He's not got what it takes to be mentally tough (at least, not right now).

Mac would have started earlier, if not for waiting on Hurts and Tua. He could have started the 2019 season, and been great. He had better numbers than Tua in the 2019 A-Day game.
Isn’t that the year he won MVP at A-Day?

Found this from PFF. I did not realize or recall but 2021 was worse and the last two years have been the worst in some time.

The Crimson Tide had 23 drops in the regular season this year after 27 in 2021, per PFF. That's a significant increase from 14 (2020), 17 (2019) and 13 (2018) drops.Dec 27, 2022

The thing about drops are when. I can’t recall a drop at a critical time by the Rydeouts. The group after them, seemed to drop as many as they caught on critical plays.

He could be a definite leader in the locker room and on the field................and teach some how do deal with anxiety..................which hopefully they wont have anymore
I say wait and see. We have no idea how his personality will mesh with guys 6 years his junior. His military training will help HIM...not so much anyone else.

We always called Marines the geology Department , because of their relationship to a Box of Rocks.
I remember all that chatter. 😆😆
I appreciate all of of our guys..no matter their service of choice, or whatever their his or her job specification is. Our military is like a pocket watch. Has lots of parts....and needs them all to function as a whole.

I wonder if this covid related in that we may not have been able to properly evaluate recruits during the 2020 recruiting cycle?

I remember one of Bama’s all time greatest receivers who also had a few drops in his career. I don’t recall how many were in crucial late game situations (I’m thinking not many), but I’d get crazy when he’d drop them right in his hands. However, he made up for them with his outstanding catches. He did drop a few his first couple of years in the pros as well.
Now, I don’t think any of the guilty parties for the last couple of years deserve to have their names mentioned in the same breath as his; he overcame his issues with his overall talent, and I’m almost certain their talent level isn’t on the same scale.
But if you take away the drops, well…I’d bet LSU’s last NC team didn’t have double digit drops for the whole season.
