Boone, NC
I remember one of Bama’s all time greatest receivers who also had a few drops in his career. I don’t recall how many were in crucial late game situations (I’m thinking not many), but I’d get crazy when he’d drop them right in his hands. However, he made up for them with his outstanding catches. He did drop a few his first couple of years in the pros as well.
Now, I don’t think any of the guilty parties for the last couple of years deserve to have their names mentioned in the same breath as his; he overcame his issues with his overall talent, and I’m almost certain their talent level isn’t on the same scale.
But if you take away the drops, well…I’d bet LSU’s last NC team didn’t have double digit drops for the whole season.
Julio dropped a few along the way. I remember the discussion about it right here. But as you say, he usually made up for it! To me, Julio was the guy that changed the whole trajectory of the program early on. We would've won without him (and CNS famously told him), but him choosing to stay at home rather than go to Norman was the first big Saban steal!

Speaking of drops, I still don't know if I've seen the Slim Reaper drop one to this day that hit him in the hands and was uncontested. Softest hands I've ever seen!

He made up for his early drops in the pros, too.
I don’t ever remember him dropping a TD pass or one when the game was on the line; he may have once or twice but he was on a team that relied more on the running game, IIRC.
DS has the chance be as good as JJ, and you’re right, I don’t remember him dropping hardly any. It comes down, in the end, to focus. As a team, when it comes to that in the QB/WR group, Burrow and his receiver group (even over-achieving TM) on their last NC team were as focused as I’ve ever seen on a college team.
MJ and his group were right there too.
