After long consideration over which game to attend, over a month ago we decided to buy tickets to this weeks game (choosing between aTm and 'tate) My wife and sister have being attending live at Gameday at T-Town on their bucket list... and they are going to check it off.

Of all 5 of us going, this will be my wife's first game at BDS. The rest of us have been several times. But this would be our first Gameday. I was hoping some of you have been to Gameday showings before and would be able to give us some helpful hints on where Gameday will setup, how do they gain access to be behind Kirk and the boys, is there restrooms near, are they allowed to return if they leave the crowd, any other info that they would need. They have no problem getting up at 4am or whenever. They have been looking forward to this for awhile.

It's been many years since I first went to BDS, and have never taken anyone that hasn't been, is there any "musts" that I need to take my wife her first time there? Plan on going to the museum/bookstore/walk of champions... just coudlnt' think of anything else.

Thank you all for your help

The last time (or two) that Gameday was in town, they set up north of the stadium at edge of Walk of Champions. The north end of Bryant-Denny was the backdrop for the ESPN broadcast. If they're in the same spot again, the nearest public restrooms I can think of will be between Stadium Drive and the Quad, about half a block north of University Blvd. The Gameday road crew will have everything setup sometime Friday, so somebody should be able to update you if they're in a different spot this year.

if you want to be behind Kirk go to the left side behind the table. I made it on there last years lsu game. Kirk sits on the right so you will have to go to the far left of the area to be behind him.

Make sure that you arrive with a very good SIGN for the rest of us to see on TV.

We have been brainstorming SIGN ideas all week. Plus I will DVR the game and see if she makes it on TV. By all means if you guys have any SIGN ideas we are all ears!!!

I will screen shot the DVR on Monday night when we get back if she makes it on and share it here.

My wife is a born Buckeye, even born in Columbus. She met me and fell in love with Alabama and our "class" as she says. Refers to herself as a Bama-Buckeye. But she LOVES Kirk, and wants to get as close as possible to him, perhaps autograph or even meet him (i don't know if they do a meet and greet type thing at all)

A female who wants to meet Herbstreit . . . Who'd have thunk it? :)

Get there early and have breakfast downtown at the Waysider if you have time. There is usually a wait, but it is worth it. If you want to be near the stadium you can do Rama Jama's( and no I don't have any connection with them) See the strip with Houndstooth, Egans, Galettes, and Buffalo Phils.

As far as Gameday it will probably be in front of the stadium on the walk of champions. Have fun and RTR.

After previously setting up on the quad several years ago, the GameDay set has been built in the Walk of Champions outside the stadium's north end zone the last few trips

an autograph is something I have no knowledge of getting from him unless you hold up a big sign saying "Kirk please Autograph (whatever you want)", but like I said if you want to be right behind Kirk then go to the far left side of the fan area and there you go.

PS.. They are actually further away from you than they appear on TV, but if you take my advise then everytime Kirk is being singled out you will be on screen, but if you are not there are ginourmous tvs where you can adjust to get on TV.

I've friends who were able to meet some of the College GameDay celebs by simply asking the setup/support crew where and when to hangout for the best opportunity. That was several years ago, so I don't know if security or protocol have changed, as I've never had any great desire to brave that crowd up-close. Herbstreit and Fowler will probably be rushed away following GameDay, since they'll be flying out to broadcast another game somewhere in the U.S. So your wife's best chance, if any, to meet Herbie will probably be before GameDay gets close to airtime.

Now that I think about it, I would be willing to brave the crowd for a good chance to meet Sam Ponder. :cool2:
