It's hard to understand what Amy Dorris is trying to accomplish making these accusations twenty-two years after the fact. I don't doubt Trump is guilty, but it's hard to believe she would have made these accusations if Trump were a washed up reality TV star rather than POTUS. She claims she's doing it for her daughters, but I'm skeptical of her motives.

Trump is garbage. We already knew this.

i don't see a reason to be skeptical. I see a woman that sat on it 4 years ago now unburdening herself. Not much to gain here at all and quite a large risk with the maga crowd

I agree with you. No one can really know her motives. I do believe it is difficult for us to understand the psychological impact such an episode can have on a woman particularly in terms of their own personal security. I am constantly reminded that women live in a completely different world in terms of their personal security than men do. Obviously no one can speak to her circumstances but she may have carried this hurt for these many years and it needed to come out for her own mental well being. We can give her that benefit of doubt considering the serial perpetrator who is the antagonist of her story.

Why do women need a motive other than to see their assaulter pay for the crime that was committed? I don't care if it happened yesterday or 50 years ago, these dirt bags should pay for their crimes. Our culture, until recently gave all the power to the men to force their victims to remain quiet. Well times have change and now women see that they finally have a chance at justice. That is the only motive needed.

Unfortunately, GOP scum bags will protect Trump at all cost and portray this woman as nothing more than a bad liberal trying to hurt Trump's re-election chances.

I don't disagree with any of this. However, Dorris waited 22 years until the eve of an election to decide to pursue justice. There have been multiple women making similar accusations; she could have come forward with her story after seeing the courage these other women demonstrated.

I think Dorris is likely telling the truth. OTOH, I seriously doubt she will ever see justice. She has to know this so why bother? If she has the goods on Trump, why did she wait so long?

because she watched those other women get raked over the coals, have death threats against them and their family as well as watching right wing media and the Trump campaign call them whores, liars, attention seekers and worse? Now she see's her 13 year old daughters and she thinks you know what this isn't what I want them to do in the same situation so screw it I am going public

makes total sense to me

I'm not trying to be argumentative, but the only thing that has changed is the age of Dorris' daughters. Far be it from me to know what motivates a woman, but this makes zero sense to me. To use your words, she has set herself up to be called a whore, liar, attention seeker, and worse. She and her thirteen year old girls (are they twins?) may receive death threats, again using your words. Is she thinking she is going to be a heroine in her daughters' eyes? Dorris already knows justice is not going to be served. Every other woman who has issued a public complaint has come up empty. If you want something from Trump, blackmail is your best avenue.

My daughter will be thirteen on September 27. I sure hope my wife didn't cross paths with Trump in '98 and I don't know about it. ;)

yeah, not trying to argue it either

but since I have a daughter who is now late teens I can say without reservation that I would be fine explaining this to her at 13 while completely not wanting her to be aware of this sort of behavior at 9. Perhaps that is at play here as well? No idea

Yeah, I agree with the age. BUT, Dorris' self described end goal was in the interest of the children. She's going to drag these children through a hell I don't want to expose my thirteen year old to.

This is your friendly reminder that in 1992, Donald Trump took the rape conviction of Mike Tyson so seriously that he floated the idea of Tyson doing no prison time but INSTEAD donating future income from fights to rape victims.

We were offended by the reliably offensive Donald Trump, who has floated a plan whereby Tyson would serve no time but would hand over his future earnings to benefit rape victims. Oh, and maybe his earnings would also benefit Trump and his overextended casino empire.

Trump also pleaded publicly for the judge (a woman for those of you who don't know) to suspend Tyson's sentence:

First to thumb his nose at date-rape victims and the judicial system was Trump. He said it would be better to allow Tyson to fight and donate part of his purses to rape victims' and battered wives' programs. How noble. How self-serving.

In an October 1992 radio interview, Trump called the conviction a "travesty."
