i'm thinking seriously abouting getting tickets to the bama-tennessee game this year.i've never been up there to a game and would like to know if anyone can tell me the section that the bama fans will be in.i certainly don't want to be surrounded by viles.:)

Re: neyland stadium question

No matter where you sit in Neyland, you'll be surrounded by the whiskey-guzzlin', banjo-pickin', cousin-datin' vile fans. Be ready to duck bottles, 'cuz they will be flying. The last time I was there (2002) I saw a Bama fan in crimson get hit in the back of the leg w/a Jim Beam pint bottle!:eek2: Ouch!

Re: neyland stadium question

Unless they have completely changed their visitor allotment (which is completely possible), you should be able to find Bama fans near these sections:

Look for seats in the lower rows of:
Z-12, Z-13, Z-14, Z-15 (the band is in one of these, I think Z-15)
A, B

Look for seats in the higher rows of:
GG, HH, II

Bama fans are usually either near the field (bottom half of the lower bowl), or way far away (upper half of the upper deck). If I remember correctly, we get a fairly large allotment of the sections A & B, but I can't guarantee.

I hope that helps.

Re: neyland stadium question

Hope you enjoy it more than we did the last game two years ago, seats are MUCH closer together than BDS. neyland really only has seating for 80,000 they just squeeze the other 25,000 in. We have always been in section AA but friends were in the endzone. Watch for flying objects from the vils sections.
If you need tixs, I can swap for Fla or LSwho tixs.

Re: neyland stadium question

I went once back in the 80s. That'll do for me.

We got dog-cussed by a Vile fan after the game...while he was holding the hand of his 5-6 year old son. I'm talking some very serious cussing, all because he glanced over & saw us walking toward our car wearing our Crimson, saying absolutely nothing (I promise!). And this was after the Viles came back in the 4th quarter to win the dang game! When he paused to draw a breath, I asked him "So, what do you guys say when you lose?" That did not calm him down, I'm here to tell you...

Good luck! (Note: I do think it would be a fun place to watch a game, if there were a team I could pull for the Viles to defeat. But I'm not coming up with such a team just now...And I think it's too bad that Fat Phil has taken a good rivalry & turned it so hateful in both directions...I used to enjoy pulling for the Viles over Notre Dame...but now,...) I do have a good friend who's a UT grad whose company I very much enjoy. Would that there were more like him...but alas...

Re: neyland stadium question

I have been to a number of games over the years, but the last time was probably 1988. They had entirely too many drunks for my taste. Hopefully it has gotten better, but some of the drunks made me wonder about my safety.

Although I have seen drinking in Tuscaloosa, I have never seen a large number of stumbling, bumbling drunks.

Re: neyland stadium question

every time I've been, I've never been in a "BAMA" section. But I've thoroughly enjoyed myself each time. It's a pretty drive from Nashville, too.

Re: neyland stadium question

nice, i was wondering exactly if i was going to sit next to the bama fans or not at knoxville this year or not. sounds like i will be really close to them as i'm sitting at section GG in row 10 as according to the chart, the rest of the tide fans will be higher up in that section. got these tickets from a vols season ticket holder. can't wait to see bama make it two in a row against fat phil!! i already reserved tickets for the hawaii, arkansas and auburn game this year. can't wait to make all these road trips :biggrin2:

roll tide roll!!

Re: neyland stadium question

They have changed the visitor's seating. Since they have made new club level seats on the east side they no longer have visitors in section AA or BB. They moved them to section MM. And they now only have a few lower level seating for the visitors. Z12,Z13,Z15 and the first fifteen rows of section A and first ten rows of Section B.

This was came from my friend at work thet orders UT tickets. And sometimes we think we have it bad but their new club level- you have to donate about $30,000 in one lump sum and then $5,000 a year per seat. He says he has to pay over $3,000 for four seats in the lower level of the south endzone.

I sat right here in the shade last time....and watched SP overthrow a wide open Prothro (?) in the waning moments of the game. Darby almost single-handedly beat the vols that day.

Re: neyland stadium question

Neyland is a dump. Literally and figuratively, and that many pickled inbreds in one place, well, one visit to that dungheap was enough for me.

Even if you have tickets in the BAMA section, you might still end up standing. The seats are THAT small.

Good luck.

Re: neyland stadium question

I was there for the spanking in 2002 and I must say that I loved it there. I've never seen a stadium that big...be that empty half way through the 4th quarter. The seats are incredibly close to one another...which isn't a problem if you don't sit much...if you even have that option. Just like every other rival game we have...it's a great place to win...but an awful place to lose.

RTR!!!

Re: neyland stadium question

I wouldn't go so far as to say it would be an 80k stadium if the seats weren't so close, but I'm sure they get an extra 5K-7K. It's really uncomfortable.

Re: neyland stadium question

I live up here and have been to a number of games. Seats are pretty close together. Don't really know the seating arrangements. I don't think they want me coming to the game though. I went to the ut/Georgia (free tickets) game last year, they got clobbered. I went to the ut/BAMA game two years ago and we barely lost, I went the ut/BAMA(priceless) game in 2002, they got clobbered, I went to the ut/Florida (free tickets)game in 2002, they got clobbered. If it wasn't for Spencer putting the ball on the ground giving Parys Haralson a gimme, I would have been to a loss for the vols every time. I was able to go down to Bama last year and I would have to say that was the best game I have ever been to. The crowd was amazing. I was sitting in the corner of the endzone and it looked like I could have grabbed that fumble myself. I would love to make the game this year, but baby number 3 is due anytime and just don't know what my funds are gonna look like. I never have managed to get free tickets to that game. If I do make it, I'll enjoy seeing each and every one of ya. Roll Tide Roll.
