4/18/2025

BATON ROUGE, LA –
Owning a 5-1 lead after five innings, No. 15 Alabama baseball saw No. 9 LSU score 10 of the game's next 11 runs, as the Crimson Tide was topped 11-6 at Alex Box Stadium in Thursday's series opener. The defeat dropped Alabama to 30-9 overall and 8-8 in Southeastern Conference play this season.

Kade Snell led the Tide offensive attack, finishing 2-for-4 with two home runs, a walk and four RBI. In his first appearance in the cleanup spot, Richie Bonomolo Jr. closed his evening 2-for-5, including a solo home run. Brady Neal provided a solo home run to go with a hit-by-pitch and two runs scored to encompass his 1-for-2 effort.

Tyler Fay was tasked with his second start of the season, tossing 3.0-plus innings while allowing four hits and just one earned run to go with six strikeouts. Matthew Heiberger followed in relief, racking up four punchouts over his 2.1 innings, surrendering a single earned run. JT Blackwood (2-1) was hit the loss as he was responsible for three earned runs in the seventh, managing just one out.

From Head Coach Rob Vaughn

"Tough way to finish tonight. Through six innings, we were right where we wanted to be. Competed on offense and had the lead late. Just too many miscues late. Some errors, some non-finished plays and we opened the door for them to come back. We will get some rest tonight and come back ready to send it at 6:00 p.m. tomorrow."
