The Crimson Tide improved to 12-0 in midweek contests with the victory

4/22/2025

BIRMINGHAM, AL –
A back-and-forth affair leaned the way of No. 18 Alabama baseball, as the Crimson Tide scored four late runs to earn an 11-7 victory at Samford on Tuesday at Joe Lee Griffin Field. The win improves Alabama to 32-10 thus far in 2025 and a perfect 12-0 in midweek contests this season.

Will Hodo sparked the Tide offense, going 2-for-2 with a home run, three RBI, two walks and a hit-by-pitch, reaching base in all five plate appearances. Richie Bonomolo Jr. was 3-for-5 with a pair of RBI singles, while Justin Lebron also collected three hits in four at-bats, adding a double, an RBI and two walks. Garrett Staton finished 2-for-5 with a double and a two-run home run, with Kade Snell managing an RBI base-hit in his final trip to the plate.

After the Bulldogs leveled the score in the fifth, the Alabama bullpen refused to budge. Connor Lehman managed 1.1 scoreless frames between the fifth and sixth innings, collecting a strikeout. Austin Morris (3-0) nabbed the win after entering in the seventh, picking up an important double play to halt a potential Samford rally. Morris recorded two strikeouts as part of a scoreless inning. Hagan Banks struck out the side in the eighth while Carson Ozmer tidied up the victory, working around a walk to strike out two in a clean final frame.

From Head Coach Rob Vaughn

"A good win against a very offensive team on the road. We traded blows for a while but got some huge hits and great bullpen performances late. Just a good team win. Now we have to rest, recover and get ready for another big SEC weekend starting on Thursday."

How It Happened

  • T1 I With one out, Justin Lebron drew a walk before Kade Snell advanced him to second following a fielder's choice. Richie Bonomolo Jr. then rolled an RBI single through the right side to drive in Lebron. With Snell at third, a wild pitch escorted the Tide's captain to home plate. (2-0, Alabama)
  • B1 I Samford led off the bottom half of the inning with a solo home run. (2-1, Alabama)
  • T2 I Will Hodo opened the frame with a solo home run, while Garrett Staton followed with a double to left-center. After a pair of strikeouts, Lebron lined a single through the left side to drive in Staton. (4-1, Alabama)
  • B3 I The Bulldogs started the inning with a single, leading to a two-run home run. After the longball, the next Samford batter was plunked and reached second after a failed pickoff attempt. An RBI double into right-center would eventually drive in the tying run. (4-4)
  • T4 I Bryce Fowler walked and Lebron singled with one out, as Bonomolo Jr. lined a two-out RBI single into left-center to bring home Fowler. (5-4, Alabama)

  • T8 I Lebron drew a one-out walk, eventually stealing second and reaching third after a wild pitch. With Brady Neal at the plate, a wild pitch cleared a path for Lebron to score. After Bonomolo Jr., Neal and Jason Torres all worked free passes to load the bases, Hodo lined a single to right to drive in two more runs. (10-7, Alabama)
  • T9 I Lebron doubled off the center field wall with two outs, as Snell lined a single through a vacant six-hole to bring home the Tide shortstop. (11-7, Alabama)
