North Korea

I'm so disappointed fellas. :frown: I was so sure that my reasoned and rational arguments about the greatness of President Obama was getting through to Swoop and Reb and gmart, and that they were beginning to see the light. Seems there is more work to be done!

Austin Officials To Take ‘Whatever Precautions’ Needed After North Korea Threat

AUSTIN, Texas (CBS Houston) – In response to perceived threats against the city from the North Korean government, officials in Austin have said they are willing to do whatever federal officials feel may be necessary to protect civilians.

[h=1]Texans mock Kim Jong Un’s apparent plan to strike Austin[/h]http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs...-kim-jong-uns-apparent-plan-to-strike-austin/

North Korea’s big “U.S. mainland strike plan,” revealed in a photo from Kim Jong Un’s war room, appears to mark the American cities that Pyongyang would attack when it launches its promised war against America. (Note: This plan is almost surely a bluff that would be way beyond North Korea’s technical capabilities and, anyway, the “plan” is probably just for domestic propaganda.) It’s not totally clear, but it looks as if one of the intended targets, among several West and East coast U.S. cities, could be the hip college town of Austin, Texas.

You aren't supposed to let us see the Big Board! Freshman mistakes man...

I suspect that while he doesn't want war, Obama won't hesitate to hammer the idiot fatboy from NK if need be. Funny how people still call him 'weak' when he's been pretty decisive wrt taking out folks (pirates, OBL) and certainly hasn't hesitated in hammering people with drone strikes. A black-and white issue where he can drop the hammer? I suspect he's ready to roll.

I don't care for a lot of President Obama's ideas and policies, but I think he'll handle this well. I'm betting if this had happened under GWB, we'd be at war right now. Is that really what anyone wants?

Not me, not unless it's unavoidable.

i love the straight lines on the map showing where the missiles will go.

i wonder what they will figure out first, how to make nuclear warheads, or single piece windshields

Hilarious how much credit some folks want to give the entertainer in chief for photo ops and before that voting present or not at all during his illustrious albeit brief visit in the senate. Almost everything Barry and his toadies wailed against during his first campaign but before being crowned prince of the two coasts, that was used to prevent future terrorist attacks was not only kept in place but went straight to simply executing folks deemed a threat. Much better than that horrible water boarding mess. Just blow them up instead. :biggrin2:

So while the previous administration was facing "truth commisions" for interrogation techniques the current one has decided it's ok to avoid all that messy capturing business and simply execute suspected terrorist..and anyone else who might be with them at the time. Sounds logical to me. Hey, it's cool because it's our guy doing it, right?

And it did not take balls of steel to ok killing the pirates anymore than a swat team deciding to do the same here in a hostage crisis. Please.

Well like someone once said, there is one born every minute. :)

Oh yeah, I forgot this had to inevitably turn into a 'my team vs your team' discussion, rather than focusing on what OUR PRESIDENT might actually do with the situation at hand...

I simply disagreed with what some had posted. I gave my opinion on the situation. Had nothing to do with choosing sides.

I hope this turns out okay. I hope President Obama doesn't have to make any real life or death decision. I'll refrain from my cynicism about the Bin Laden killing in the name of patriotism - for now.

Anything this man and his cabinet/yes men does as president will be determined by one principle and that is what appears politically expediant. Nothing else.

I didn't quote or reference you, why are you feeling defensive?

Oh I don't know. :)

Maybe because you posted right after I did and no one else had posted in a similar fashion (to mine). Besides how is my post any more defensive in nature than yours?

If I disagree it's defensive?

Also, I did not quote or reference you either before my first post.

Personally, I loved the fact that their strategic attack map was a large piece of paper essentially tacked to a pole. High class, NK, high class.

Honestly, North Korea is no threat to... well, anyone. A single nuke will have their entire country turned into a parking lot.

Wanna guess who also has a MUCH more powerful military than North Korea?

South Korea.

Turns out that building an economic powerhouse first, then your military, tends to work out. Of course it helps to have us as allies.

It's painfully obvious, however, that China doesn't trust these wackjobs either; otherwise they'd sell/trade to them their missile technology. I wonder if they could even hit South Korea.

Maybe they'll use a catapult ;p
