Not a good day for Tiffin

3/6, and all of his misses were 54, 45, and 32. He made FGs of 45, 42, and 20. Its early, and considering the scrimmage was closed, we have no idea what the circumstances were. Tiffin will be fine, he's a veteran.

On the bright side, Corey Smith made both his attempts, one from 18 and the other from 32.

I hate to say it but I've never really felt confident with him since that Arkansas game his freshman year. Freshman or not, he was missing XPs. :eek2:

Many of us have felt that way about him at one time or another but there have been many times when I have also felt that he was a big part of a win.

He has been somewhat inconsistent but he is a senior and I truly believe that he will step up and do the job.

:BigA: RTR!

Tiffin and JPW are both players that fans have been unnecessarily hard on. Both players proved to be valuable to the team and were of the utmost importance to Alabama having a undefeated regular season. I stood up for both of them when they were having a hard time and I feel entirely justified in it. Look at it like this, at this point would you prefer Corey? If not you might want to become a Tiffin fan. Also, let's hope we have a coach that actually coaches and acts if a kicker is having some problems during a game rather than pretend nothing is going on.

My sister taught him in high school and from what she has said he has times when his focus is not what it should be, but when it comes to crunch time, he is always there.

Here's my opinion of kickers.

They're asked to do one thing.

If they're not simply outstanding at that one thing then I'm going to find me one that is.

How many national championship opportunities has Florida State lost because of a kicker they couldn't count on under pressure? I think they're the ultimate testimonial.

I think extra points should be absolutely automatic and any field goal attempt inside of 40 yards should almost be. Otherwise you need a new kicker.

I agree!

I'm more worried about kickoffs and punting than i am about Tiffin. If G-Mac keeps progressing like he is Tiffin will be kicking more extra points than field goals this year.

I'm sure Coach Saban would like a more consistent kicker with the range to boot, but clearly LT is our only option to this point. I think there is a walk-on that could challenge in the fall, but right now "It is what it is," and unfortunately that is an inconsistent kicker who can shank a 30 yarder with the worst of them, or boom a 50+ with 10 yards to spare. The word frustrating comes to mind. So does nerve-racking.

Man, I was disappointed to see that this was about Tiffin. When I first clicked on the link, I thought it said Kiffin. I was hoping he had acted like an idiot again.

Was anyone there that actually saw him kick? It might not have been him, it could have had something to do with the snapper and the holder. Is anybody new in those positions?

Roll Tide!

I agree with this statement with Tiffin but very much disagree with JPW. I believe that JPW earned the heat.

If kicking was easy anyone could do it.

They're kickers. Not Quarterbacks. But they get the same scholarship and free education.

They're not asked to call the play in the huddle, , take the snap, execute the play, throw the pass, complete the pass etc.

It's "Hey kicker...it's a 30 yard field goal. We'll snap it and hold it, and we'll block for you, all you gotta do is let that scholarship award winning leg of yours manipulate that little chip shot through the uprights."

If they can't do that consistently, especially under pressure, then they need to be replaced, and I don't care what their Daddy's name is.

It's like advertising for a "Typist". You interview this brilliant woman who is incredible on the phone, can file like a crazy person....but....she can't type.

Do you hire her?
