Why’s everyone so down on Milroe?
If he beats out Simpson…it’s because he’s the better choice…isn’t that what we want?
well, he didn't really play the part when called on this year, so for him to beat out Simpson or the two guys we have coming in would require a massive amount of improvement, or we missed on all the others. It's certainly possible because it can be hard to predict when things will "click" with athletes sometimes, but it's a long road...

But did he not play well because the OC didn't utilize his talents correctly? If that's the case we really don't know how good he is/can be.

Accuracy and reading the coverage seemed to be an issue
People can improve at both aspects especially reading a defense. Jalen Hurts is a great example of this. The offense would change some to play to his strengths. That didn't happen for him at all against A&M, and he had a poor showing.

Nick Saban on Former Players' Criticisms: "That really breaks my heart" - Sports Illustrated Alabama Crimson Tide News, Analysis and More

Did anyone see this article today? Good for Bo Scarborough for having the tough conversation with Coach Saban. This gives me some hope that maybe he will be willing to move on from PG at some point.

This also answers the question we had earlier about how much former players talking poorly about this team impacts Coach. They may be the ones who drive the change required to get the defense back up to standards.
This is probably the best thing that could have happened for any real chance for true changes to be made. CNS doesn't put any value on what fans or reporters think. But when it starts coming from his own former players in the manner that some apparently did it, then it probably hits home that something has gone wrong with the program that needs to be fixed. It should also be a compliment to CNS that former players care this much about a program they are no longer playing for.

I don't believe he's better. I believe he was only given the start due to having more experience in the system. Which, we learned from Tua, isn't necessarily the way to go.

The ONLY reason he was given the start was because the coach (GOAT) thought he was the best choice in winning the game.

Basically because of his performance when he played. If he improves good for him and us. Just play the best if not you hurt moral.

well, the current OC isn't really using anyone's talents effectively. that said, if we revert the early Jalen Hurts offense, we'll lose a TON of players. Smitty, Ruggs, Juedy were all about to revolt in the Jalen Hurts one read (and not really even reading it) and run offense. They would not have stayed at 'Bama had we not started shifting the offense to leverage EVERYONEs talent, instead of a single player...

You read these comments and see what is being said publicly, how anyone cannot see that BOB phoned-in his offensive strategy for the Bama offense. He literally thought he would stroll into the Bama program, do Saban a favor, and walk away with the Saban Stamp of Approval...

Simply, BOB mooched off this opportunity. And what are we left with? Half the fries are gone and virtually all the ketchup...

What happens with Milroe will be highly dependent on the next OC, assuming BOB is gone. I remember how bad Blake Sims looked in that spring game in 2014. We all were thinking it was going to be Coker’s job to lose. But under Kiffin, Blake flourished, won the job, and had a great year.
Can we find someone like that? Let’s hope so.

Amen, brother.

I think it speaks to two things. First the strength of the original culture. Former players feel ownership and and obligation to keep it going….to the point of sitting down with Saban (not exactly known as a guy who takes criticism well), and telling him that the current product doesn’t meet the culture’s standard.

Second, if Saban thought about it afterward, he had to wonder who among the current team is so bought in that he would come back in, say, 2026 to deliver a similar message? I’m guessing the list would be painfully short.

Good for Bo. It sounds like Saban has taken to heart his thoughts and those of other alumni.

Finally, just me pondering here. I’m wondering if Scott Cochran’s role in perpetuating the culture and standard might have gone beyond the strict confines of S&C.
