the Bama lacrosse team has been playing for 26 yrs. do many of you go watch.
i love and follow the sport in the east. i was just curious how well the team was supported at the club level.
seemed like a decent off season topic.

It's a game invented by Native Americans and played by white people in the northeastern hinterlands of our country.....

I think if Alabama were to add another sport, it should be men's soccer or Lacrosse.
You can't add men's sports and have scholarships because of title whatever that says you have to have scholarships for girls. Baseball gets by on just a few scholarships that they split up.

My 9 year old son plays Lacrosse in the Birmingham area. During the Fall they have a short season, and the Alabama men's Lacrosse team helped coach all the teams every Sunday. They did a great job.

Lacrosse will never replace college football in the South, but it's a great sport.

BTW, I did not know Bama has been playing Lacrosse for 26 years. Interesting.

Last week UAB and FSU played the first collegiate sand volleyball match. That seems like an inexpensive sport to add for the womens athletic dep't so they could add soccer or lacrosse for the men.

they could add womens lacrosse for that matter.
what made me think about asking this question, michigan made the jump this season from club level to D1.
i recently read an article, that lacrosse could be the next big thing for colleges. it would be fairly inexpensive to start up. they could quickly get to varsity sport. the 16-18 team playoff at seasons end is already in place. they are plenty of youth leagues. (even in alabama)
another article was giving heack to the SEC for not push the schools to go D1. most of the schools in the conference are already playing at sanctioned club level, which there is a national championship tourny. ( michigan & arizona st have played in that championship game the last 2 yrs.)

Like hockey, I'd imagine a lot of people who like physical and intense competition would like lacrosse if they gave it a chance.
it's a combination of hockey, basketball. good offensive teams can run-n-gun or play good motion offense like basketball. it has he flow and shift changes and defense of hockey.

Pretty much all you need to do is build the sand pit for the court. They use the same coach and the same girls already playing regular volleyball. Like indoor track, its an easy way to add a sport for free.
