I know it's not popular with CNO, but I kinda wish he'd make one consideration for landing a big, bulky 4 or 5 as post-up option. It's not what we've seen in Oat's system here, but it follows the philosophy of "shots near the rim."

The post-up big is a dying breed in today's game it seems, but there are a few games each year when that guy could be invaluable.

Gurley was brought in because of his effectiveness in low post play BUT it works best for him when the offense goes through him to allow him to establish a rhythm. He would get touches, but never seemed to be in a rhythm because he wasn't the main option on offense.

Hoping we are able to establish better frontcourt offensive production with next years team.

Right, but I'm talking more about a transfer that has proven ability on the low post. Out of the guys we've had on the roster that you list, only Beds has had any success showing he might could post up and score. Problem there is he's not strong enough to truly be effective (which I hope another season in the weight room helps cure).

I'm not even talking about working a post up guy into the main offense, because it really doesn't fit our rhythm/style, but more of a "specialist" for precise times like after a time out/late in the game (especially those games when our 3 point shooting has suffered).

When I read Gurley my mind was thinking "Gary," but you're correct and I overlooked Gurley. He actually probably showed more potential as a post up player than Beds.

Hopefully both of those guys show improvement in that department next year with some added strength!

The great thing about Gurley is he has college experience with Furman and he had it against SEC programs before he transferred to us. Hopefully last season was the learning curve he needs to put up his best effort next season. The same goes for Bediako since he now has a season under his belt as well.

Bediako is arguably one or two of the best returning centers in the conference.

I guess that must have been a game I missed. That's precisely the kind of situation I was referring to upthread. Having the kind of low post presence that we can turn to when the offense is struggling.

As mentioned, I'd kinda forgotten Gurley showed some real talent in the low post and I think Beds will be better next year too.

Even still, if there's room on the roster, I wouldn't hate if CNO took another experienced/proven big from the portal for next season. We seem to be guard/small forward heavy anyway.

Not saying you’re wrong but, IMO We really don’t need another big unless he can truly spread the floor. We already have Nick Pringle and Noah Clowney coming in as a part of our recruiting class. With our style of play, we don’t need 5 bigs on the roster. What we really need is wing depth. Right now our only wings on the roster are Darius Miles and Brandon Miller. You could classify Rylan Griffen as a wing, but he is really more of a combo guard.

I really think Gurley will make the biggest improvement of anyone, on our roster from last year, to this year. I have no basis for this but, to me, it looks like he bulked up a little and was still getting used to playing at the heavier weight. JMO there though.

Not saying you’re wrong but, IMO We really don’t need another big unless he can truly spread the floor. We already have Nick Pringle and Noah Clowney coming in as a part of our recruiting class. With our style of play, we don’t need 5 bigs on the roster. What we really need is wing depth. Right now our only wings on the roster are Darius Miles and Brandon Miller.
