Since we are basically just bowl prepping and looking to the future anyway, after the BB hire at NC, it really got me thinking about CNS.

He seems to be enjoying his ESPN gig and I hope he's enjoying more free time to make commercials with Dion and play with grandkids.

But, I'm just not sure if he's a man that's made for NOT coaching for any length of time. When he's diagramming plays or diagnosing defenses on ESPN it just seems such a waste and he seems genuinely engaged and eager to do so.

So, hard question, do you really think CNS will never coach again?

No, I don't. I realize that's a double negative so let me clarify, I think he WILL coach again, somehow, somewhere.

I know this is going to be blasphemy but how about being a DC (or position coach)? More coaches seems to be going that way now so instead of being a HC and having to deal with all the HC duties, they are just coaching football. I know that sounds odd to have CNS be a coordinator (or maybe even a position coach) but hey if you just want to coach ball and not have all the HC duties.

Or I have also thought about CNS now becoming an analyst on the UNC staff with Bill.

I believe this is why he stepped out when he did.

But I wonder if teams start winning with one and done portal teams if he'd consider taking another shot? That's my question.

He'll get multiple opportunities/inquiries EVERY YEAR.

I can't imagine he would ever coach again, not in today's environment. Plus, if he did go somewhere, he'd be starting over at age 73, at the earliest.

I could see him taking a leadership role in the CFP, SEC or some future governing body that I hope and pray will come into existence in the not too distant future.

Idk Saban looks happier than I can ever remember seeing him. I think he is likely done coaching and I think he's enjoying himself.

He's not like Bill Belichick. He has a family that he now gets to spend more time with.

Personally, I do not think he will ever coach again. To me, he looks very content and he's actually pretty good at what he is doing now. He is the only reason that I watch that show again. Just my two cents.

I doubt Saban ever coaches again. He quit for a reason and those reasons are getting worse with every passing day.

Could he be on the playoff committee while also working for espn? This could be a conflict of interest.

I also am unsure if he would even want the nonexistent job of college football commissioner. Seems like a headache of a job and as has been stated, he looks happy now.

Saban has 80 million reasons why he's not coaching. I think he's actually enjoying retirement a lot more than he thought he would as well. He's excellent on Game Day and is why I watch now after several years of not doing so.

I honestly think he may be the only person capable of fixing the mess that the sport is currently in.

Saban never wanted to coach as long as Paterno/Bowden. So my guess is no. I could see him running clinics but coaching, I think he done.

He's done and I don't blame him.

CFB is pretty much ruined at this point as far as teaching and helping young kids become young men ready to face the real world through lessons in amateur athletics.

They are all Pros now. Spoiled and Entitled.

Nobody would want me to be HC because I would have benched over half of this year's starters most likely if not all of them and rolled on with mostly 2nd and 3rd string.

It's nausea inducing what's going on in Tuscaloosa right now and everywhere else.

Coach Saban has seen the light at the end of the tunnel. He is happier than he has ever been and he is finally getting to embrace his sense of humor that he has had to hold back for decades. He philosophically believes in holding people to a high standard and doing it in a less than "buddy buddy" way. Pruitt once told me that him and Kirby were laughing in his office and they immediately could hear "those shoes" clunking down the hall. Saban came in and said (and i'll paraphrase), "whats so funny!?". I want to laugh!" Needless to say he wasn't genuinely asking.

Saban had little respect for anything but work. If it wasn't about recruiting, game prep, watching film, etc it didn't belong within the program. Truth be told, if coaches didn't get paid what they were getting paid, and they didn't believe that being on his staff was setting them up for big opportunities down the road, no one would have coached with him. To say it wasn't the most pleasant experience would be an understatement.

He now is getting to live a little and he isn't turning back with what time he has left on this Earth (which is hopefully many more years). He has nothing else to accomplish in the coaching world. NFL? Been there done that and he isn't going back. College? His legacy is firmly planted as the greatest of all time, he could only mess that up.

The difference in him and CBB is Saban was able to go out on his own terms. Once CBB gets his opportunity to do the same he will be out. CBB also is trying to set up his son for future success in the coaching world. Saban doesn't have to worry about that. IMO, Saban will never coach again and he shouldn't.

Enjoy your family, eat good food, go have that beer that you been wanting for Lord knows how long, and live a little. You have deserved every bit of it!

More of a conflict of interest than having an actual Athletic Director of a potential playoff team on the committee?

Now that big money has been brought into college football I think Saban is done. Players are more concerned about NIL deals and playing time rather than winning championships and I don't see that changing.
